Good article. Thanks for posting it up. Too many people do it wrong, esp tourniquets, ie placement on lower leg or forearm rather than upper leg or upper arm. Spread the word brother!

Life saving reminders. Thank you. Not rocket science but very valuable and the kind of thing the more you hear it the more likely you are to remember it in a pinch. And +1 when it is your kid all bets are off. been in that hospital room and seen what we all hope not to, and even tough guys lose it. Or at least I know I did.

Everybody should know about first aid, especially if you are around guns.

What if the person next to you at the range shoots himself in the leg, would you know what to do or could you just call for help?

Most of the first aid for bleeding can be done with what you have on you, empty hands, t-shirt, belt ... etc.
But it always help to have a good first aid kit with you.
I keep a "gun shot wound/trauma kit" in my range bag.

This needs to be shown to everyone. Although simple in design, most people don't understand the purpose or how a tourniquet works. In the Army, I've seen many people try to place the tourniquet over the actual wound...this works somewhat, but can cause many complications. Thanks for sharing!

Good read. It reminds be off a first responder class I took years ago as a volunteer firefighter. Everything in the article WORKS.

I would run around and scream like a little girl and then faint.

Now if the guy in the next lane shoots me in the leg, that's a different matter...not as much running then.

    Good, common sense information there.

Sending the link to the wife as a reminder that we all need to take a refresher course in CPR and First Aid.
