need gun for my sister..suggestions !

I do always recommed a revolver if you are going to go with the hand gun for home defense with folks (man or woman) that are new to shooting. All training recommendations are spot on and you are certainly going the right direction. All things being equal, I recommend a .357. She can put...

New Black Panther party leader "we will deal with all you right wingers.

Nice post. I had the same question and you answered eloquently, articulately and impassionate. I don't recall having an opinion either way about the Blank Panthers. I think I believe them to be a group of racebaiting thugs but have never actually been in a discussion or researched the history...

      Where did you OC today?

Did they have .45ACP or .357 in target loads? Thanks,

      General June Indy 1500 Discussion

I may have been there that year. I was looking for an XD and actually found a used xd.45 tactical for $400. It would have been a steal but I passed. I was looking for the .45 compact. I felt better though after I spoke with another gentleman there the next year. He was selling an XD.45...

      Carry At Work Language

I know its an old thread. I doubt this will ever be read. But I did ask a lawyer friend about a pizza delivery man dead. (I'm a poet when I don't think anyone's watching). The friend of mine (esquire) took a day to read up on it. He said he couldn't find a case where family sued the...

Do you carry your gun while at work?

My company's attitude is don't ask don't tell. I work mostly at a desk. It stays mostly in my truck. When it gets late or weekends, we snuggle if you know what I mean.

A discussion with a friend in MI about self defense.

Another thought occurred to me. You never want to be in a fist fight while armed. I am not an expert but logic tells me there is very little that can go good for me if I end up in a tumbling brawl. 1) The threat is now on top of you. 2) Regardless of how the fight ends, normally the guy...

A discussion with a friend in MI about self defense.

As is the case with many hypothetical scenarios, I don't think there is a catch all answer. I don't want to ever have to shoot anyone. But I will not risk serious injury or death debating what I should do. If I can safely de-escalate the situation while retreating from conflict, I will alway...

Carry Condition-Striker fired with no ext safety

I didn't think about that, but I do the same thing, out of habit. Everytime I handle the weapon, I my thumbs runs over the chamber indicator and the back pin of my XD. I know instantly if a round is chambered and hot.

Carry Condition-Striker fired with no ext safety

For a very long time I only carried a .357 hammerless snubby. It was small, DAO and had a pretty heavy trigger pull. It also tends to ruin pants unless I use a pocket holster. I was very comfortable with it and had several holsters for pants that were most suceptible to pocket damage. When I...

The official status update thread - I

I know what a shill is. I'm pretty green here so I didn't really notice and thought little of it. I figured this was the affectionate tag for a "newbie" to the site. But now that I think of it, I suppose I should run to the mailbox and look for a check. :):

      Lets see your XD

I don't keep pictures of it but my XD.45 Compact is my personal favorite. I worried about whether or not it was "too big" to carry. I found an aftermarket XD paddle holster made by springfield for it. With that holster, and an untucked shirt or jacket, it is very nice to carry.

That's not fair. (Please tell me you own a shop. I don't get jealous about much...)

Range Report and Request for Help with a malfunctioning Taurus 709 Slim

I was going to say something similiar. Taurus does have a lifetime warranty on malfunctions. I accidentally droped my .357 snubby on concrete one time and left a scar on the nose a consistent safety reminder. Several weeks later, I had some trouble with it. I sent it to Taurus per the...

      The Latest New Guy

We lived in Austin from 6/2000 - 2/2003. If not for the 1) Tech Bubble burst 2) Enron 3) Tyco 4) 9/11.....We would likely still live there. I was transfered to the DC area when the Austin construction market tanked right there with the economy. My daughter is a born Texan. And if you know...

      The Latest New Guy

I was searching around the net for the latest IN gun laws and stumbled across the site a couple of weeks ago in preparation for a family trip. I've been browsing for a bit and have been impressed. This site seems to have an intelligent, articulate and polite following. Further, there are some...
