Although the .380 isn't for everyone it will be a backup for someone. The bright side here is that Glock (although late) is starting to listen to the crowd.
Gander targets the crowd that is out wanting to buy a gun but don't know where to go about doing that. The more savvy gun owners already to know where the best deals are. Gander is fine losing those sales. They are still one of the largest gun sellers out there.
Lacrosse Ice Kings are awesome boots if your gonna be in sub zero weather. They are big and bulky but they work. Gander had em on sale before Christmas.
How about an iPad sling. I've used one for the past year scouting fields and it has worked out great.

You absolutely did the right thing. At the end of the day you were a successful deer hunter. You got up, made a strategy, executed it, and produced a deer that didn't quite give you a ethical shot. Thanks for being a fellow hunter that pays attention and can hold his trigger when necessary.
Was in a SP in Minnesota some years back sittin in my stand sippin some coffee when all the sudden the sun came up and there was nothing but orange all around me. Just got down and found a new next to impossible spot to get too cause I didn't want to get shot. They say in a popular SP you need...
Yep, layers is where it's at. A great outer shell is Cabelas Wooltimate line of jackets and bibs. They cut the wind great and provide great warmth and comfort.
Go to field, make painful rabbit getting ripped apart by hawk sound, wait, make awful sound again, giggle a little, wait, make blood curdling sound once more, wait, whack coyote, feel heart pump, smile, do over........
I've sat and sat thinking "what an idiot" then jumped something on my way out that was bedded just outside my stand area. Done it many times after hours of sitting. I think when the wind is in your favor you sit. If the wind changes you might still sit but now you do have permission to move.
Ok here's how we do it way up north:
1) wool sock liners-smart wool
2) wool socks-smart wool
3) 800-1200 gram thinsulate boots but they CANNOT be tight. Tight boots are a number one killer of warm feet.
4) article shield boot covers, put on once your in the stand.
This setup will hold down...
.243 is a good choice and gives you deer hunting versatility in the future if the regs change or you decide to head up north. Burris is a great scope for the money, their pretty tough to beat. BUT I wouldn't want to deny you the fun of getting into the AR platform and the plethora of...
I made some off these directions for next to nothing. Found an old leather wallet to cut up for the rest...they work pretty darn good and was kinda fun. Varmint Al's Bi-Fur-Pod Page
Grew up and worked in Minnesota and the Dakotas, it's a great place to live. Being a diesel tech is a good choice for that area. Don't be fooled by the lure of the big money in the oil fields, IF you can find a place to live up there, it'll cost a pretty penney. Those oil camps are pretty rough...
