I would say buy the ammo. 100 rounds is an afternoons fun and then you are out. If the price is good get it. Even if the world comes to their senses tomorrow ammo is not going to be any cheaper.
Pistol hunting for rabbits is fun. Sneak up and pop them while they are sitting. Doing it on school property and hunting without a license is a special kind of stupid.
There are a few revolvers with interchangeable cylinders that allow both 9mm and .38 Special. Not sure if they are still manufactured but might be fun to check out.
I have had a 22S the steel version of the S&W 22A for a number of years now and it is accurate, fun to shoot, and has gotten good reviews from everyone that has shot it. Just something to consider.
Or pick up another barrel. The rifle sighted ones are usually improved cylinder and are fixed. A new barrel with interchangeable chokes is the way to go for what you want to do.
After all no one can drive 25 minutes south to the Plymouth store and buy all the Colt 6920s, Sig 5.56, and assorted EEVIL Shotguns. Oh wait they can. So a business that brings money to South Bend loses it to one a little further away? Gee if my face makes me mad should I cut off my nose?
I think bobzilla is pointing out that most gun stores have pistols on display pointed toward the front of the case quite often. The main difference being that you were fairly certain that the gun in the holster was loaded.
