Great video and I like what they've done with the rifle. It's clear to me what they were going for and it seems they pretty well nailed it. It would've been nice to see the rifle really stretched out, say around 600 yards or so, but it looks like his shooting facilities may have prevented that...
I've always zeroed 7.62x51 @ 300 yards, mainly because this is the baseline zero for the old Leatherwood ART II used on the M21. It's pretty easy to estimate range and hold under at shorter range, but my estimation accuracy degrades as distance increases. I suspect this to be the case with most...
Carrying a firearm imparts upon one incredible responsibility. Why on earth would someone accept such responsibility without acquiring all the practice and training one could possibly afford? The police firearms "expert" got where he is via practice and training. All too often, the media seems...
Thanks for posting the links. This is a great series I've watched several times in the past and always enjoy it immensely. While many seem unable to fully grasp the architectural beauty of the classic American long rifle, Gusler's work is near the top of the food chain. As I understand it, he...
I don't think it could be. If it's always loaded, it will always be treated as such and "accidents" won't be much of an issue. I feel fairly certain this is why Col. Cooper worded it as such.
It was SOP for one of the chains I delivered for years ago in college. I was involved in three attempted robberies inside dwellings while working there and thought it was just a bizarre policy.
I would be more unsettled by a delivery driver who WASN'T carrying than by one who was. This is mainly why I don't bother myself with TV news, anymore.

Eliminate as many variables as you possibly can! Several of the guys who helped me figure this out reloaded using the old Sinclair arbor presses. Quite a bit removed from your average reloading press, but they do a superb job of producing axially aligned ammo with minimum runout...
This is my current "SPR" build. The lower is a Seekins Precision with an RRA National Match trigger setup that's about as smooth as any lower I've ever handled. The upper is a collection of parts I had lying around. Upper receiver is a BAFE (used by Colt, DPMS, and others) with a Midwest...
Sights back in the flintlock days (along with the locks and barrels and much of the furniture) were commonly made of wrought iron, which is where I've always assumed the term originated from.
Is your rifle a Mark 12 Mod 0/1 clone or just a nice accurate AR? The SPR moniker gets thrown around kinda haphazardly, as I'm sure y'all know. Good irons or even a cheap scope would get you through the lean times but if you have a Mark 12 and are dead set on parting company with it, I'd like to...
7mm-08 or 7x57 are the first two that sprang to mind when I read the original post. Defining "all around" is going to have a considerable influence on the OP's choice, though.
Ever tried making a magazine? It's a little more involved than whipping out a decent cup of coffee. Having worked in manufacturing for years and based on projects I've worked on, I think mags are one of the more fairly priced gun accessories out there. Well, during periods of non-hysteria, at...
Producing match grade ammo for your .308 is essentially an exercise in eliminating or acutely limiting ALL the variables involved in making the shot. Some folks settle for a lot more deviation than others. If I was loading ammo to shoot 2L bottles at 400 yards and impress my friends I wouldn't...
I have with several pistols, but have zero experience with the Smith. In a couple of cases, subtly changing the way I carry (shifting holster/changing holster) eliminated the problem. With another pistol, I shaved down the mag release button a bit. You may also have a weak or broken spring in there.
