Deleted her address and number several times now.

You're forgetting something. This is not a punishment. As soon as she apologizes, and returns the gun, it's gone. All over. The video is up by her own choice. How long it stays there is her choice as well.

What?!?! I didn't see that anywhere.

I clicked the 4chan link that was posted on here. There were pics of topless girls at the top and bootom of that page. Some were labled as topless teens. There are 7 years that make up the teens, only 2 of which are legal. Did whoever put that photo on there verify the age? I don't care to risk viewing child porn.

I meant physical harm. We have death threats over NASCAR wrecks so you never know what some wack job will do as a result of this frenzy.

If I were in the op's shoes this lady would be no longere considered family if she refused to come clean. She isn't worth one ounce of effort she is getting now. People like her will end up paying for their actions in the long run.

+1 in agreement with you !

I haven't gone any further than it was last night, when everybody thought it was hilarious that she was going to be exposed. Now that it's happened, everyone is mad at me? ????

    Caining is too much.

It has got to places that were unintended, it is probably something you can not stop now anyway. :dunno:

Not mad, you did post it and the shame was outed, but now it has gone WAY to far. Time for it to come down.

This is MUCH worse than caining.....

IMHO it is time for this thread to go BYE BYE....

If someone else decides that this video is reason enough to hurt someone, then that person should be at fault. Not someone who posted on a message board.

If someone causes physical harm to this woman over watching this video, yes, that individual person is 100% liable. But to say that others have zero culpability in it is wrong. If some wack job from 4 chan does something to her, do you think they would have had the ability to do so had the youtube video never been posted?

IMHO it is time for this thread to go BYE BYE....

I disagree. I think the thread serves as a useful object lesson in the nature of power and the ways in which its use can go wrong. I've never been a fan of deleting or redacting posts or threads; if I'm willing to say something, I force myself to leave it said, even if I later regret it and apologize for it. I disagree with attempting to re-write or blot out history, even when it makes me look bad. I find that this personal policy makes me think harder about what I post before I post it, and I believe that makes me a better person than I might otherwise be.

I also disagree, on two counts. One, why delete the thread? The link to 4chan is gone, and we just need to remember to keep it clean and civil, thats all.

Two, this is NOT worse than caning. At the very worst she'll be subjected to random telephone and internet harassment from strangers for a day or two, until they get bored and move on to something else. I can't equate that to being publicly beaten with a stick.

I support OP. The only issue now is where it goes from here, and I don't think that's in the OP's hands. Taking the youtube video now is close to pointless. As for any legal issues I'm no lawyer but I would guess a judge would say a reasonable person would have to be able to assume his/her actions would result in the outcome in order to be found guilty. I don't believe that would be the case here. Let's keep in mind the women was caught red handed! Told what the consequences would be and still did nothing!
On a side note I find it funny that some posters on Youtube are on the side of thief because she took an evil toy gun out of the hands of an innocent child's hands. (Never mind that she then put it in the hands of her child?)

I would agree if that is all it was, it has now moved to physical threats. It will not be limited to her alone. Her kids should not suffer for what she did and has so far failed to do.

Last night there was the video and no talk of names and addresses that I can remember. The facebook link was fine...the address and phone etc was TOO FAR.

She has been humiliated for her crime, whats next?

So is personal responsibility now 100% dead in this country? I don't care for the idea that everyone is culpable. A drunk driver rear ends my vehicle at 3:30 AM early Saturday. How culpable am I for being out driving when I know, from vast experiences, that a lot of the folks out driving at 3:30AM on Saturday are drunk.

The video speaks for itself, there are now plenty of witnesses and persons involved to prove this was a theft. Just because someone posts a family video doesn't mean they are now responsible for what comes of it.

While I disagree on how wide spread this thing got, like someone on /b/ said "This will be all forgotten about in six hours." Not only that, this case is a great test case. All these internet warriors over on 4chan saying how they called this lady. I really wonder just how many called? I wonder just how many really sent Facebook friend request with mean messages?

Don't blame the person who did nothing, blame those who on their own accord took it to the next level. Threatening comments should be deleted, and if she is have problems with Facebook, she needs to contact them and have the accounts of those users deleted and their IPs blocked.

I don't see why? No laws broken. Nothing wrong was done.

If you want to leave the video up, that is fine. I would at least block comments from being posted on _your_ video upload. At a minimum, I would go through all those comments and delete those with a threatening tone. Also, if YouTube folks see this, you might get your entire account suspended/deleted. Just a heads up.

Last night there was the video and no talk of names and addresses that I can remember. The facebook link was fine...the address and phone etc was TOO FAR.

Which is why you try to stay as under the radar as possible. If posting her Facebook was OK, then obviously the address and phone # isn't that much more. I mean there are so many people search engines out there. Plus, if she is a nurse, she would need a state license, so that is also likely public record.

No-one at 4Chan is likely to even attempt to cause any physcial harm to the woman and her family. That's not their way. The likelihood that they'll get subscriptions to hardcore porn are way up. Her Facebook friends have likely already had the video posted to their pages and they'll possibly be getting prank calls for awhile. Most of that is probably going to die down now anyway. The mods at 4Chan have 404'ed the post (they don't like these raids very much). Someone may even drive by her house and drop a deuce in her mailbox. /b/tards are extremely unlikely to do anything that could result in their own arrest for even a misdemeanor. Doing things on the internet while anonymous is more their style. Not hatchet murders at 3AM. Pizza delivery's at 12, tho...
As for the ads on 4Chan, they're all for major porn sites and are vetted for age. moot (4chan's Fenway) want's to avoid PMITA prison as much as anyone. People posting CP on the image boards get the post deleted and they are permanently banned. Yep, it's the wild, wild west there but they do have town marshals, like here. They just have a different outlook than other boards. Some of their boards, like /ck/, /k/ and /wg/ are actually pretty useful when you can keep the /b/tards out.

I seriously doubt that any of the internet commandos on 4chan or posting on Youtube would escalate this to physical violence. Everyone is 10 feet tall and bullet proof while they're behind a keyboard....in real life, this just isn't so.

That said, I sincerely hope that no real, physical harm comes to her. That WOULD be way over the line. The humiliation is, IMO, warranted. It would behoove the OP to try and keep her address and phone number out of it to the best of his ability.
