Remember, business don't benefit from collecting sales tax. They pass it right on to a man named Sam.

Again, the spoon fed reason we were given for the new stadium was increased jobs and revenues. By bringing in the stadium, it brings in more fans and more restaurant goers, hotel stays, shopping, etc. So in effect, the increased tax subsidizes the downtown businesses. The businesses are profiting from the tax.

...and you STILL avoid my points.

Let me try this another way..

How does NOT tipping a citizen who is an employee, of a privately owned restaurant, neither of which had anything to do with the tax increase, effectively protest what the GOVERNMENT has done?

You keep skipping off on tangents here, which leads me to believe you have no direct answer for my questions, since it appears you are intentionally avoiding them by misdirection.

Your wasting your time with him. It can be enterntaining for a while but it eventualy gets boring.

Yes, we realize this. I still don't get is a mindset that makes the leap from that, to punishing a girl making $2.13/hr, especially in this economy.

How DARE her work for a company that may or may not profit from the conditions of a tax increase! Yes, it's all her fault. If she had any integrity, she would just quit her job in protest and solidarity with those who oppose the totalitarian local government regime!

I agree. It's amazing how people hate a team of great athletes because they obviously made the decision to have a nice stadium. I've been to the stadium MANY times and I will continue to go as long as it's there.

    GO COLTS!

I just have to wonder if the people that come to this thread are actually Colts haters or if they are just trying to get people riled up. I'm a Colts fan and if the year ends with a 7 game losing streak, that won't change. There are large issues with the team right now that need to be addressed with big time personnel changes. Possibly starting with the coaching staff. I never wish to see my team lose but in the interest of next year (this one has felt lost for about 6 weeks now), it may be best to miss the playoffs and get a better draft pick.

    GO COLTS!!!

+1. Amazing how quickly things can go off track, huh? Reminds me of the old threads...

And the award for optimist of the year goes to...

BUT the good news for Colts fans is if you win out you win the division no matter what Jacksonville does.

If the Colts win out they will be 10-6 and tied with Jville.

The tie breakers are as follows:

1 - Head to head record, they would be 1-1
2 - Division record, they would both be 4-2
3 - Common opponents - In that case the Colts would win

Giants - Colts won Jville lost
    Eagles - Both lost
Cowboys - Colts lost Jville won
Redskins - Colts won Jville not played yet
    Chargers - Both lost
    Broncos - Both won
Raiders - Both havent played yet
Chiefs - Colts won Jville lost

At this point Indy has two wins where Jville lost and Jville only has one win where Indy lost. So in other works win out and you are in.

colts are missing an 'O' line, and starting players keep getting hurt.

back to back 4 int games.....need I go on? I don't think we'll make the playoffs this yr, I hope I'm wrong tho.

    Still a colts fan tho!

Colt's O line is in bad shape, Charlie Johnson has a bad back, and no one to really back him up, Saturday is having to battle the hodgepodge of guards being rotated out and Diem is playing the worst of his life.

Reggie is playing hurt and is dropping balls, Pierre is a drop machine one day and a monster the next. Blair White while a good receiver is still not up to understanding the offense and with Collie's brains scrambled and Gonzo lost for the year, it causes problems being consistent.

Our number 1 and 3 running backs are screwed up hurt, plus what little our healthy backs can do is not helped out by the O Line.

Peyton's confused as he** out there because he's got receivers that are dropping catchable balls and not running the right routes. The one interception that Peyton threw with the pump fake is a perfect example, White was supposed to curl out and because he didn't he went inside, Peyton pumped it, saw a small window and went for it, the rest is history.

Our inability to block on the line, even run for a 3 yard game has affected Peyton's ability to "freeze" linebackers to open up pass routes and everyone is dropping back into coverage, and coupled with the injuries, inexperienced receivers and dropped balls has caught up to Peyton's ability to overcome problems.

People keep saying Peyton's done, he's not and has plenty of years left to show it. The problem is, will he want to keep showing it with the pounding he's taking. While he's not getting sacked, the hits after he throws are really more hurtful than when taking a sack. He's got big shoulders and will admit to the mistakes he makes, he mans up, he makes them because he's forcing throws he should not have to. But you don't see him yelling and cussing teammates on the sidelines and on the field like a couple of other prima dona quarterbacksin the leauge.

I grew up a Packers fan because Indy didn't have a team and I loved to watch Bart Starr and Vince Lombardi, but when I woke up on March 24th 1984, and seen the news reports showing a Baltimore news reporter in a falling snow saying that the Colts had left town and was heading to Indy, my allegiance was no longer a team located several hundred miles away.

It was to my new team, The Indianapolis Colts. I now had team in my backyard that I could now become a fan of, and share the teams colors with people around me that was also jumping with joy of a local NFL team.

Since that day, I've been a Colt fan true and blue all the way through. I show it wearing hats, jerseys, Colts sticker on my vehicle and a flag that flies almost constantly from a 16 foot pole (my IU flag shares the smaller pole beside my the time the season starts till it's over) next to my 28 foot pole proudly flying the American and Indiana State flag. My wife who was NEVER a football fan until she found out that Hunter Smith played in a Christian band became a fan 3 years ago and sports a #17 Hunter Smith jersey has sit and watched every game over the last 3 seasons.

We are proud Colts fans, why should we have to stand up as the thread is labeled? The only ones I see standing up is the bandwagon and Colts haters (you know who you are, move to where your team is, and then you can biotch about them), I say to all of them, stand up, get out of my way and get the he** away from me so I can support my and our team in the fashion they should be deserving of.

Weren't most all downtown businesses in favor of the new tax to bring the new stadium to fatten their own coffers? While servers are reaping the rewards of the increased traffic, they also get to suffer the consequences of those who disagree with it.

ETA: And I as a customer, get to choose how much of a tip I get to leave. Tips are a suggestion. In no way are they a contractual obligation.

I want to stay out of this argument as much as possible, but I want to add that when the voting for the new tax was going on, I was a bartender, and wife was a server. We along with 90% of our co-workers were against the new tax. I didn't care either way about if the colts left or got a new stadium but I think they funded it the wrong way, and most servers were against it. Severs just don't have much political pull.

That is all go back to your discussion everyone.

Oh that's nice, penalize the person working for a living and who just served you. The tip you just failed to leave has nothing to due with Irsay.

It has everything to do with Ir$ay. Ir$ay, and many others, claimed that if we built the stadium, then it would bring all this money into central Indiana. Not just the downtown core, but the entire region. We spent a billion dollars, so my guess is my 2% reduction in tipping doesn't even phase the server. I mean Jimmy and others swore to us that these people would see a huge economic gain after we built the stadium for us. I bet all servers in the Indy metro area now are making $5K more per year than they were prior to Lucas Oil Stadium being built.

Wow, its probably best that you just skip going out to eat all together. Clearly if you are docking the wait staff for something they have no control over you need the money far more than they do.

They had a say. They interviewed many, many servers during the debate. They all said they were for it. Business downtown actually posted fliers saying people should support the build. The business owners aren't eating this tax for me, they are passing it on to me, so I will make the adjustments I need to make. Unfortunately, there is only one area in which I can make my adjustment, and that is to the tip.

I love it. You spend more time all wraped up over it and it eats at yahoos like you and hornady. I win.

Maybe for someone like you, a simple mathematical computation stresses you out. For me, it is pretty easy to calculate my current tip rate using the calculator on my phone. There is nothing to get "wraped up over."

Some of us support individual freedom, and that includes freedom from immoral taxation. Some support taxation so long as it benefits them personally. Being a season ticket holder, it is no shock that you want the government to take other people's money when they engage in certain business transactions so you can get your ticket prices subsidized.

Some poor server making $2.13/hr gets less of a tip because you don't like something the Government has done?? :dunno:

I can't even begin to find any logic in that...

Well, I would put it to the server this way. Would you rather:
    #1: Get 2% less of a tip
    or
#2: Have me not eat out at all, and get nothing?

    Wonder what they would pick?

And you WONT find any logic. Remember your dealing with a mindset like child thats having a temper tantrum, laying on the ground and kicking and screaming and crying.
BUT it is fun to watch. Almost as much fun as going to a Colts game.

Just like the die hard socialists in the media, you resort to calling a person names when they dare speak out against government subsidization. Yes, you want your precious season tickets, but you want them cheap, so you support the taxation of your fellow citizens. No wonder this country is doomed. A country can't survive full of "me, myself, and I" socialists.

How does NOT tipping a citizen who is an employee, of a privately owned restaurant, neither of which had anything to do with the tax increase, effectively protest what the GOVERNMENT has done?

I'll answer: Your question is confusing to me. I tip less not to protest the building of the stadium. I did that on internet forums, and contacting my elected officials. I lost, OK. My reduction in tipping has to do with me being made equal. I don't want to pay for Ir$ay and the $imons, so I will do what I needs to be done to make me whole. If these billionaires can get their cut, why can't I get mine? Hell, I'm not even asking to be given money, I just want to be equal to what I was pre-Lucas Oil.

It's over horna, the stadium is built.

Yea, so? It seems here the only ones crying over spilled milk are those who are shocked that people are making adjustments to their spending so they are equal to what they were pre-Ir$ay tax. What I find laughable is that the pro-stadium folks would say stuff like "Oh, your getting upset over an extra $5 a year, or a nickle on a Big Mac." OK, I get their point, but now those same people are getting upset that some of us have decided to not pay an additional $5/year in tips, or a dime, maybe quarter, to a server. Then they say the person should just stay home and NOT support the business with their money. So it's wrong to reduce a tip by two dimes, but totally OK to stop supporting mom and pop local business, taking hundreds of dollars out of their till. I personally would have people who need to watch their money take two dimes from the sever a couple times a month than totally withdraw hundreds to thousands of dollars from the economy.

Good for them, they picked the right profession. I cannot even begin to understand your argument of why you would punish them. You don't want to pay the usuage tax? Don't eat in marion county. Trust me, plenty of other people will. The city won't quit turning because some squeaky tight wads don't want to pay 10-20% for someone serving them. Stay home and cook for yourself.
