What people have to realize is that the haters on here represent very few compared to the "real" general public, that's hard to believe sometimes but it's true. There's just a larger volume of haters on this board for some reason and also because the mods allow alot of it, for whatever their reason is. But a good article, it's a shame that more can't be discussed here without all of the **** slinging. Some people around here would maybe benefit from it!

Nobody is immune to bashing. Nobody.

It isn't the mere existence of the cop bashing that gets me, its the fact that it happens day after day and even multiple times a day. If the bashing of other occupations occurred just as frequently with threads started with the sole intent to bash those other occupations, I might believe that other occupations do in fact get bashed.

Yeah I'm sure the treatment an EE gets is comparable to the treatment a cop gets on INGO.

I find it hard to believe that INGO is Darwins Island, per se, in regards to lack of respect for the police force. I would say that INGO is probably a good amalgamation of responsible folks in a wide age range (mostly of the wiser ilk.)

As a job, law enforcement compared to any other job is apples and oranges. A mechanic wasnt given the authority to taze you and step on your neck if you failed to comply. An electrician would be crazy to think he could search and seize someone elses property, no questions asked.

Is it that difficult to see and understand where the haters are coming from? Sure, alot of the hate is misguided but something didnt come from nothing and as far as I can tell, the LE community isn't appeasing...they're cracking down harder.

There are tricks they use to engage you into self incrimination. For instance, cop says "Are you aware the speed limit is 55 here...I clocked you doing 12 over the limit.". You say, "12? I was only doing 57!". Guilty. You incriminated yourself.

Well not exactly what you suggested but he did keep asking me why I was in a hurry. Each time I responded with, I am not in a hurry. I have plenty of time to get where I am going.
I would like to think this trooper was just stupid and arrogant verses intentionally being a dirty cop. I had never had any issues or thought poorly of the State police prior to this occasion. It does give a person something to think about though.
I do get many opportunities to be around officers during military funerals as I ride with the patriot guard. The officers have always done a great job in escorting those events.
There are people groups out there that I am suspicious of based on their job, their race, their religion........ But individually most people in each of those people groups are honest great people who I would trust with my life.

I've been a member here a lot longer than you have. I know where the haters are coming from, I don't need it explained to me. I'm done trying to explain my point of view.

I don't believe I missed the point at all, OP is saying some cops are pricks but we shouldn't let the bad apple dissuade us from trusting the majority of cops. But it is okay for cops to look at all civilians as criminals because they deal with the minority who are criminals. Doesn't seem like a double standard?
