I am trying to decide which semi-auto .308 rifle is better. I like the m1a supermatch, but a friend says that an ar-10 would be better and cheaper. Which rifle would you(INGO members) choose?

    :yesway: Good choice.

Do you have a price point you are looking at?

If no, for about $15K you can get a PSG-1

otherwise, probably one of the sprinfields or an AR platform
I was thinking $4k tops. if it goes higher than that I might as well buy a barrett .50, which would be worth it because they are just FREAKIN COOL!

    Informally? Competition? Don't know?

Lots of choices. Let's go over some scenarios:

    A)

If money is no issue, then an LRB M25.

    LRB OF LONG ISLAND, INC

If you prefer the AR platform and money is not an issue, then the new Les Baer .308 AR.

    Les Baer Custom Inc.

    B)

Money is an issue, then a used standard Springfield M1A. You can build (gunsmith) it up as funds become available and then glass it.

    Springfield Armory

Money is an issue, then a DPMS .308 AR and build it up as you can (trigger and sights).

DPMS: AR-15 Rifles, Parts and Accessories.

    C)

Eschew the self-loading platform and buy a Remington 700. This extremely flexible platform will allow you to change what you want (barrels, stocks, triggers, optics, inter alia), when you want.

As well, if money is not an issue the new Les Baer bolt guns shoot like they have eyes.

    Les Baer Custom Inc.

(We are blessed with many fine choices in rifles. It is simply a matter of preference and money).

    I'd say Springfield.

You should check out the M21, its in your price range.

But if you want a .308 AR there are a lot more choices.

For $2500 you could get an LMT, Noveske, or even LaRue.

How far do you plan to shoot?

Just a side note. I find it intresting how these threads deteriorate into whatever someone has in their safe.
