I OC all the time so I forget where I went in the past few days.. All over Schererville.

Yesterday went to Subway with the wife by Walmart (not the one in Walmart). Quite busy in there, no-one said anything.

Went to Goodwill in St John, again, no-one said anything but I noticed a couple of old ladies looking at me (or just checking me out :p).

Then McD's in Merrillville on 30 to catch up with a friend... She didn't even know I had it on but asked me why. I said: It's Merrillville. :P

Another quiet evening yesterday. My wife and daughter got home right before I did, so we packed back up and went to Pizza Hut (Plainfield) for dinner. Almost on a first-name basis with one of the waitresses by now! Had our pizza and (fairly terrible) salad bar (mentioned to the manager that they should stock it a bit better), and headed for home.

No muss, no fuss. Just another routine evening (as it should be).

    Good post, Blue!

I have one question though; What was the employee referencing by saying "You're a scary one!"

I'm not sure. I was wearing cargo khakis, and a tucked in blue t-shirt with my OC G17 and a single mag carrier on the other side. And sunglasses.

Maybe its the beard...people find it intimidating sometimes. Here's a recent photo; you tell me.

(NOT a picture of me on the day of the comment; just a recent pic at the range.)

    .
After that, we went up to Meijer. As we passed the cheese area, a lady went into a seizure and fell into the cheese cooler. Got her out on the ground, called an ambulance, and kept her on her side and calm until the paramedics arrived. Meijer people got my name and info, gave my statement of events to the paramedics, and then caught up with my fiance to finish our shopping. Surprised that no one asked if I was a cop, honestly. Being one of the few people who stopped to help, and also OC'ing a G17. As I walked out of Meijer, one of the employees was behind me and said "Oh, you're a scary one!"

While reading this I assumed you were carrying a Hi-Point. I have the same experience when I see them in public.

    Haha... :):

    Sucks to be you!
Enjoy the taste of Socialism....
Sadly it will be here soon too though... :(

It's not so bad, weather is nice, people are tremendously friendly, and I'm in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where there's lots of hunters. I would say a lot of people have rifles, shotguns, etc. in their house, just very few handguns (it's probably easier to get one here than someplace like Toronto or Vancouver).

On a side note, I'm going to be back here later in the summer for a fishing trip with one of our suppliers. I'll be sure to remember how bad it sucks to be me when I'm getting paid to catch fish and eat pan-fried walleye shore lunches . For a Minnesota native, that's about as good as it gets.

    Meh...

I hate fish, and my idea of fishing is to take a Cooler of beer and a bucket of rocks with me. Hell, I even take the hook off my line and replace it with a big steel washer. I don't like to be disturbed while I am drinking... :):

I get a bit twitchy around them, but I've never gone into a full blown seizure. Maybe she was just a REALLY bad hoplophobe. Her friend who was with her, (who by the way, was worse than useless as far as first responder aid is concerned,) said she was epilectic, though, so I suspect it had nothing to do with my Glock.

    Pretty interesting information here:

A Practical Guide to Canada's Gun Laws for Americans

:hijack:, but only for a minute, bear with me.

I think it's important to understand that most of Canada's gun control was determined by those in Toronto, Quebec, etc. (eastern Canada) The people out west in Manitoba, Alberta, etc., have a genuine distaste for the politics of their eastern Canadian countrymen. In Canada's case, the population of places like Toronto, Vancouver, Quebec relative to the rest of the province population is such that they can set the laws (like Chicago does for Illinois). Most of the existing laws are pretty tough to enforce anyway (thus the lack of provincial prosecution), this is a BIG wide open country. There aren't enough RCMP (Mounties) to cover it very well.

I do have to point out the statement at towards the end about not coming to Canada to hunt, etc. because of the firearms laws - the population up here is so concentrated in the bigger cities out east, the rest of the country is just it is out west here in the US, they just the government to leave 'em alone. I mean, for those who hunt deer, would you pass up hunting on some guys farm in Pike County, Illinois because you disagreed with the FOID you have to have to buy guns, or the fact you can't carry? The farmer has absolutely no say in that, the only person getting hurt by it is him.

    Thread jack over.

Oc'd while taking the kids for a bike ride. Stopped by the neighbors to chat. Tomorrow it will be IHOP, the motorcycle shop and the store. I will probably conceal at the Jesus Culture concert tomorrow night.

I CC'ed at Hazelwood Christian Church to pick up our son after the overnight lock in ( didn't want to scare the little buggers ) then went to Flapjacks in Plainfield for breakfast, there I took my jacket off. Nobody made an issue of it.:D

Over this last week I OCed at a couple local Chinese restaurants and one guy asked if I was a cop. Saw several guys wearing NRA gear or were obviously packing poorly concealed guns. I also ran into Keith who shoots IDPA with the Cool Kids from time to time.

Also OCed at Washington Square mall and picked up an old Bad Co album in really good shape for cheap plus some other old crap at the Merchants outlet. Nobody said boo about me being legally armed and proud. Also stopped in at Target to pick up a present for Colt, I just can't believe its been almost a year since I became a dad!

To Chuys with the fiancee. Nobody commented, stared, laughed, or pointed. No 5 year olds disarmed me. Food was good.

Going to be getting a 1911 soon to replace the G17....just want something a bit more purty for OC, you know?

Turkey Run SP, Shades SP; got my annual pass today; OC'ed at the county park yesterday. OC'ed the G17+TLR1 encountered well over 100 people, all were friendly, whether they were from IL, MI or IN. No questions about the gun, seemed just as normal to everyone else as my having worn sunglasses, I just didn't see anyone else OCing.

On my motorcycle from Ft. Wayne to Plymouth to meet a fellow INGO'er for a sale. Then I rode home with my .45 on my hip and a rifle in a bag. Everyone who passed got a clear view.

I think the IL drivers were jealous.
