I guess it was just my day to be stopped.
If you were shorter, that wouldn't have happened.
I guess it was just my day to be stopped.
Normally I don't post in here because I OC everyday and you guys would get tired of me but I thought this was funny.
I was walking in Meyers (You mean Meijer) in Portage today and had a lady that works there run up to me and ask me.
Her. (Should be a semicolon) Who are you. (Needs a question mark)
Me. (Again) What do you mean. (Same thing. This is a question, not a statement.)
Her. (Again) Are you security. (Again)
Me. (And so on, down the line) No
Her. You have a gun.
Me. I'm license to carry. (No. You are licensed to carry. Conjugate your verbs.)
Her. You are scarring me. (Scarring? Did you cut her? You mean scaring, right?)
Me. Do you always run up and question the thing that you are scarred (Scared) of (Needs comma) or are you just curious about it?
At this point she is just looking at me like a deer in the headlights. I told her to have a great day and I went on my way to shop.
You are awarded no points.
It should actually be a colon, not a semicolon, and you failed to notice missing commas at the end and beginning. You are awarded no points.
The Colon
How to use a semicolon - The Oatmeal
Given the high mortality rate of his chosen career field...
Look! Kirk, Spock and McCoy OC! They even have their weapons in their hands.
...
Her: You have a gun.
Me: I'm licensed to carry.
Her: You are scaring me.
Me: Do you always run up and question the thing that you are scarred of or are you just curious about it?
At this point she is just looking at me like a deer in the headlights. I told her to have a great day and I went on my way to shop.
OCed all over Holland, MI Friday and Saturday while visiting relatives. Didn't have any problems. We went out for lunch at Culver's with my sister in-law and her kids before we left. There we were, 3 adults and 6 kids eating our delicious Butter burgers, and some guy approaches our table.
Him: Excuse me, can I ask you a question?
Me: Sure
Him: How is it that you can carry exposed like that. (he asked this in a very confrontational way)
Me: (Suppressing my smart-alek side) In Michigan you can carry openly without any type of license.
Him: I didn't think you could carry exposed.
Me: The Michigan CPL gives you permission to carry concealed, but you need no such permission to carry openly.
His demeanor changed and we had a pleasant conversation. Turns out he is a retired Sheriff's Deputy from Indiana who relocated to Michigan a few years ago. He said he would check out the law because he has a revolver that he would like to carry but he didn't want to pay the fees for the Michigan CPL.
So, an Indiana resident was able to educate an Indiana LEO, living in Michigan on Michigan laws regarding OC.
Columbus Sams Club today. Guy was carrying a revolver on his hip...didn't look law enforcement...
Also saw some guy last weekend carrying openly at the Joe Willy's in Columbus...but he looked like he 'could' be law enforcement...but he had nothing indicating he was.
