A 696 is a 3 inch L-frame 5 shot 44 special. Same frame size as a 686 357mag, just in 44spl. I think a 3 inch barrel looks good on this size of gun. Most 686s are 2.5 inchers.
I really like the look of the wood grain grips. I have a Ruger sp101 .38, where can i find some good wood grain grips. I'm not familiar with any names or types of wood that would be best.
Thanks
My modest Smith collection. 2 model 696 44spl., Model 65 .357, model 19 357, model 10 .38, 442 .38 and 625 .45acp.
The 66 is a good one to have. I really like those grips.
They are really nice. I stumbled onto an old guy that had several sets of S&W finger groove wooden grips that I have on a few of my Smiths. I'd like to get a nice set of wood boot grips for my 2.5" Nickle 19.Thanks..those are Ahrends grips. I really like them. Even though they are smooth, they don't slip around, even when shooting magnums.
Doug, you do have some beautiful old round guns there.
