My dad took me to the Indy 1500 to get my first handgun. I believe he was expecting me to get something slightly small or more concielable. But, I loved the way it felt in my hand, so he told me I should buy it. Interestingly, that is the same time I learned (at the age of 19) I was legally able to carry a handgun, but not legal to purchase one.
Dont know if I posted on here yet so incase I didn't I'll do it again.
My 21st. Birthday present to myself, always wanted one so I saved up before I was 21 and she is mine.
Colt Double Eagle. Started out to get a Ruger P85, which were only a couple hundred bucks at the time. Ended up with the Double Eagle.
Used it years later for a defensive pistol class, and after I didn't pass the qual test, promptly sold it and changed to a single action 1911. Shouldn't mess with such a tried and true design.
