I dated a girl in high school and her uncle was close friends with John Hiatt. I've been a fan ever since.
One of my faves:

I used to try and see him whenever he was in town. My old roomie had a little basement band and we used to do "Slow Turning" with me doing the vocals and rhythm guitar. Took some friends to see him at The Vogue and he did that song. They just looked over at me with really big eyes. I've had people tell me that I sounded just like him, but that was by design. I was never creative enough to have my own sound, so I tried to sound like the originals.
