I bought this gun new back in 03 or 04.
I have fired between 40k and 50k rounds through it with the majority being Federal bulk pack. This gun has been extremely reliable up to this point, I have made it a point to let folks know how happy I have been with this gun. This is what happened to the gun today at the range:

Looks like it just simply gave up. I cannot explain why it failed at this particular point. This occurred during a string of fire, after one round fired, the slide broke and ejected entirely off the gun. I will, of course, be contacting Walther immediately. I am not upset and am actually proud of this little gun being such a trooper. it has been my favorite plinker for quite some time now.

They usually break at that same spot on the end of the slide when you run a RDS mount that mounts on the frame rail, or run the barrel extention like you have in your pic.

I don't know why but I've seen it so many times.
Saw one happen in person at H&H indoor range about 6-7 years ago.

Wow, hope there was no injuries from this! If you got 40,000-50,000 rounds out of a P22 I'd say you got MORE than your money's worth.:yesway:

Mine only has around 1000-1500 thru it and other than the barrel leading up with Blazer ammo it has been flawless. CCI MiniMags solved that problem. I've even got a wild hair about shooting FNS with mine. Recently mounted up one of Walther's scope mounts, and a small holographic red dot on it. Going to try to get out tomorrow and sight it in.

Seen a couple break like that, saw one that didn't break but was worn out in about a year (yes, the guy hosed ammo through it weekly, like he got the stuff for free).

In each case CS fixed/replaced the guns.

    Where's the bacon?
Not Super glue, not epoxy, not duct tape.

This is INGO. Have you guys learned NOTHING in your time here?

Put it in a container of uncooked rice for about 24 hrs..

Glad no one was hurt, and good luck with Walther... Please keep us informed about their customer service.

    Blessings,
    Bill
