In the construction business sometimes the job requires a certain amount of VBE (veteran business enterprise) participation. If you are bidding a job and are not a VBE you need to find someone to partner up with to meet the requirements. The company you saw is just playing the game.
They also have similar requirements for WBE (women) and MBE (minority), so a minority, female, veteran owned business would be VERY lucrative.
Walking back from lunch I spied a work truck with the company name, phone number, etc. on the side. And in just as large of a font was "VETERAN OWNED".
To me it seems tacky to use one's military status as advertising and financial gain. But what says INGO?
I've got no problem with it if it is truly a Veteran. If it's just some Joe Blow who's faking it, he deserves public shaming and higher taxes.
If I were to find out they were Puddle Pirates or Flyboys, I would have them just move along. Grunts and jarheads are OK but I'd need to be in a great mood to be eating from any squid.
And should some jobs be available just to Veterans for X amount of days First before non Veterans,
Like on the Indiana Career Connect system.
You do realize that the Marines, and the Seals, are part of MY Navy?
IMO, yes. That's part of the pay back for dedicating a chunk of your life to the nation.
