Ok, but what threat is Venezuela to the US that justifies sending US troops to Colombia under the NATO umbrella?

Im not aware of Colombia's NATO status and will have to look that up later, but if Venezuela is a threat to Colombia it may be in response to that. Although most Latin American countries don't like the US getting involved in their affairs. I would think Colombia would not make such a request...

I saw an interesting quote on one of John Farnam's posts

The problem with socialism is: You can vote your way into it but you'll have to shoot your way out of it.

“(Going socialist) is like joining the European Union — no matter how many times you vote against it, there’s always another vote, until it goes the other way, and then there are no more votes.”

One lesson to be learned from the misery of Venezuelans is that a few months ago you could buy a 6 month supply of food for an ounce of silver. Their inflation rate is nearing Zimbabwe levels, you know, that Zimbabwe where they put signs in the bathrooms saying do not use zim dollars as toilet paper? I don't suppose modern fiat currency will decompose gracefully when used as tp, much more likely to plug up the pipes.

The people will be allowed to vote until they vote correctly.

Of coarse it would seem natural for Maduro to block an aid convoy.

Just saw him being questioned about it on tv this morning. When asked why he wouldn't allow the aid into his country when the people so clearly need it, he said, "Because it is a poisonous gift."

On a humorous note, Guaido is being characterized as "Venezuela's Barack Obama". Lord help those people. Wonder if AOC would have any opinions on how her "heros" are treating the people down there?

This Maduro guy is starting to remind me of Jim Jones. He's off the rails and this won't end well for anyone there.

He's just like any other tin can dictator when they run out of options. You can bet he's looking at a plan B involving flying to some place that will take him with what's left of the country's treasury.
