Was Trump not exercising a bit of pragmatism running for national office by leaving the abortion issue up to the states and campaigning with a promise to keep the feds out of it and let the people decide instead under his administration if elected in an attempt to slow the pro-abortion momentum from using it against the GOP as a national issue argument.
He totally made a calculated shift to become pro-life. And he wore it like a bad fitting suit that he couldn't strip out of fast enough when the political winds shifted.

I want a politician that doesn't stick his figure up in the wind when it comes to abortion.

My prediction is that it will go back to being the party of perpetual Washington Generals of politics. A role that establishment Republicans love. A party that honorary residents of Carmel pine for a return to. The simpler days when Republicans posed for campaign photos holding rifles wrong to signal their fake support in gun rights. When they send letters to constituents explaining how they need your money to fight for family values, while voting against them in congress.

They don't want to win. They want to occupy an office and pretend that they're standing against Democrats. They want to make video clips of themselves owning the libs on c-span because they talk harshly to deep state officials and judicial nominees in congressional hearings. If the RNC drops an America First agenda and reverts to their feckless selves, I am done with them. And done with voting because obviously it would not have helped anything.
    I do love roundabouts...

So you want it to be controlled by the central state. I do not. I think the federal government should have less power, not more.
I'm pro-life, which is more than just being anti-abortion. How about expanding the child tax care credits? Or tax credits for the first 3 years of a child.

There's any number of ways we can reduce the concerns of would-be moms and make the choice of life more appealing.

I’m okay with roundabouts. In many cases they make more sense than 4way intersections. Nikky Haley Republicans tho might as well be Democrats. What’s wrong with prioritizing American’s needs above others? Haley says, but muh wars! How the military industrial complex get they shoes? How they pay for they clothes?

I have to pay people to not kill their kids? :n00b:

That sounds very, uh, what’s the word I’m looking for? Oh yeah. ”Democrat”

Note: Blurred because INGO is a family friendly site.

I guess so, in the sense that those whose names shall not be typed on INGO want me to pay people to kill their babies. But somehow, that doesn't reach the level of moral equivalency, at least in my crazy right-wing opinion that abortion is infanticide.

I was replying in context to the portion of your post about the GOP needing to exercise a bit of pragmatism and I asked if my post was an example of doing just that wherein my take was Trump is trying to knock the wind out of the national pro-abortion argument by campaigning to leave the issue up to the states and the people to decide instead of them being able to use it against him as a federal election issue.

One more thing: The GOP needs to stop vilifying immigrants.

Immigrants are more conservative and more Christian than native born Americans.

This xenophobia only serves to weaken the party in the long run.
Those you support should stop conflating illegals and refugees deliberately brought or allowed into the country to change its culture with immigration. Is this country now the great New Ireland? New Italy? Nope, those immigrants are among the proudest Americans! Our leaders are failing us and this type of post just supports those failing leaders…

Do you think Trump will make any headway with Muslim True Believers?

    Maybe moderate Muslims.
Well if he is pragmatic about it and says he likes some aspects of Sharia law and may implement some...be just vague enough but sound supportive, like a politician...then maybe. He doesn't have to mean it.

    Here we go,

What was the Immigration policies from 1924 to about 1960?
Almost nonexistent very few people were allowed entry. Seasonal workers were allowed in for work and then returned home. Often with enough $$ to buy housing and live off until the next year.

We turned away Jews from Europe fleeing the Holocaust.
Why because the political leaders witnessed first hand the massive immigration of the 1900’s. The government at the time believed the wave of immigrants needed time to be absorbed into the society.

Humans are tribal we are pack animals just like dogs or wolves. We are suspicious by nature of anyone outside of our pack. If you wanna join the pack you need to prove yourself and assimilate. What that means you need to become part of the society. Learn English, work, understand our culture and norms.

What we have now is unbridled immigration we don’t even know who they are. If someone is from a country that has no rules they don’t understand rules or norms. It’s difficult to assimilate if you don’t even understand what a society is.

The current immigrants do understand the welfare system. They may be married once in the country they claim not to be married.
This means a check per child food stamps free healthcare housing assistance. Meanwhile the father gets a job and they are good to go.

The current immigrants are collecting in areas and creating their own society’s. This is up to and including having their own legal and banking systems. This is why it’s setting up to be an us against them situation.

Mass deportations can reset the clock. Read up on operation “wet back” deportation of over 1 million illegals.

I think you're on to something here. I'm sure that's being discussed by the campaign as a strategy.
