Jack booted thugs. And they wonder why more and more people distrust/hate cops.

...but of course anyone who decides to put up a website and be a "media outlet" is instantly trustworthy. Anyone who decides to file a lawsuit is instantly trustworthy as well, as no one ever lies to try and get money.

Dunno, if it happened that way then there's obviously some real issues going on. Seems a fuzz over the top, to me, and citing 3rd amendment protections instead of the significantly more applicable 4th seems odd at best.

Those who say the regular media outlines don't pick up stories about officer misbehavior have apparently never read the Indy Star or seen Fox 59. If they remotely think an officer did something wrong its headline news. I've made the news when the video specifically shows the claim being made is wrong, so don't give me that BS about "doesn't fit their narrative." The media loves to beat us up unless we get killed, then its strippers and skittles for a few months.

"I call" this happens every day... It's just not as important cause it didn't happen to you or your loved ones. Or they just let them in. Lest we forget the Boston Bombing Raids.
"I call" on the people to start growing a backbone, or this will happen more and more, and will get reported less and less.
"I call" on us to stop arguing about circumstances and get together with our actual community instead of bantering back and forth trying to make the 'witty' comment of the day.

I'm thinking there is a high chance of BS in this story.

If not though...that would be scary!

A mans house is his castle, unless the Gov. wants it, in that case it is their castle until they want to give it back.

This really seems like a spoof article on the surface. The timing smells of April fools stories, but customized for the 4th of July. (Edit to add <---witty comment of the day, for the win!)

That is just crazy, if it happened even remotely like the article said.
Hard to claim we don't get to hear the other side of the story, so we don't really know what happened, with this one.
I usually feel that way with all the other officer involved threads. But it is kind of hard to justify busting the neighbors door down and entering his home after he denied letting them use it without a warrant.
I don't see any worthy justification from the cities' side.

If this was Indiana, this could have been a prime example of the new 'castle doctrine' laws in Indiana that allow defense against public officials. The second the door was busted in...

And the homeowner threw down on the cops, the homeowner would be dead.

Courthouse News Service has been around for years and does not post spoof stories. If this has happened then they are reporting on existing litigation. They are a very trustworthy news organisation and not prone to hysteria or boot licking. There's no BS in their stories, no matter how much some folks might like it to be.

Courthouse News Service is a nationwide news service for lawyers and the news media. Based in Pasadena, California, Courthouse News focuses on civil litigation, from the date of filing through the appellate level. Unlike other Internet-based publishers that simply aggregate information prepared by other content providers, Courthouse News publishes its own original news content prepared by its staff of reporters and editors based across the country.

And the homeowner threw down on the cops, the homeowner would be dead.

They came in with a ram and pepper guns. They would have immediately retreated. Who knows. But in some places he could have gotten away with it, as he should be able to. I'm not anti-leo or anything. I've got family in LE, and am in school now with the same intentions. But raiding a guys house and arresting him because he didn't want them to use his house as a command post, is just wrong. I don't see how this has anything to do with distrusting or hating the police. This is not a nationwide epidemic. It sounds like it was a single supervisor, and his officers making their own poor choices.

Some things are worth your life, your constitutional rights being one of those things. It's hard to say what I would have done, but defending the home is not out of the question. I wish there was a CCTV in the home.

If they wanted a freaking command post, they should have brought in a command trailer. If they don't have one, that's their problem, not the homeowner's.

If this story is true and accurate, I hope the plaintiff gets 1000x what they are seeking. The jack booted thugs should ALL lose their jobs as well as the person in charge of this operation making decisions to illegally entering one's home without permission and spend some time in jail. And who in the hell shoots a terrified dog that is not posing a threat with pepper balls? I have absolutely NO respect for anyone in LE that behaves in this manner.

I used to save and research every occurance where SWAT and DEA officers raided the wrong house, or picked up the wrong people and killed innocents, many of them children under 12. It happens way more often than citizens really want to know. In 2002 it was 12 botched raids in 12 months, and that was just the ones that made national news. Often, a bad "tip" is sited as the reason. If the original posters story is bogus, there are dozens more that are true.

60 or more years of social experimentation has filled this nation with a huge number of the population that make society unstable. The response is often unstable also. Before the liberal socialists started making their wealth using lowlifes as their "cause", those who tore away at civilized society we shunned, starved or hung. Now they are given accommodations to breed and multiply. Since 1903, that number has grown from just a few percent to numbers approaching 1/2 the population. Aound 1903 we were executing more criminals per capa than any other time in history. That era is also when crime was at very low percentages also.

Civil Law enforcement has always been a tough job to get right. Admittedly, it is a rough job. Factors in making the job nearly impossible from a legal and moral point of view can be summerized in three basic catagories. The political leadership contributing to the growth of amoral criminal elements. The legal system that makes some people wealthy sustaining rather than solving unrest. The hands and tactics of law enforcement that are more tied politically than constitutionally.

Too many knee jerk commands that try to counter the criminal element have often, and will continue to victimize the productive, law abiding, taxpaying citizen.
