    things still made in America

    8. Guns
The rest of the world may have a lead in high-tech products, but Americans can always stick to their guns.

Based in Massachusetts, with additional facilities in Maine and Tennessee, Smith & Wesson (SWHC) is the largest maker of handguns in the U.S.

Founders Horace Smith and Daniel B. Wesson entered the firearm market by making a lever-action pistol that was sold by their Volcanic Repeating Arms Co. In 1856, after financial difficulties led them to lose ownership of the company, they struck out on their own with a new, cartridge-based model.

The timing of the company proved fortunate. The Civil War proved a boon for business. By 1867 the revolvers were being sold internationally, their image bolstered from use by legendary lawman Wyatt Earp and the U.S. Army.

More recently, its Magnum gained silver screen notoriety as the weapon of choice for Clint Eastwood's shoot-first-ask-questions-later Dirty Harry.

There's really next to nothing truly "made in America" anymore. Now it's "owned by Americans" is what matters if you wish to look at things like that.

The problem with that theory is that we don't even make good , old fashioned Americans here any more .

We've been out sourced in a manner .

We've been paying foreigners to come here and open up shops (homes)and pump out the babies for us , and they're good at it .

All they need is reduced / free rent , tax breaks , food stamps , free education and health care and they'll happily continue .

The children aren't being taught to read and write in cursive anymore so they can't read the original founding documents and don't have a clue what the 2nd amendment says .

Quite a few plastic caps you see on just about anything (including coke) are manufactured right here in Indiana. I've made/designed many a mold parts for them.

Other Made in Indiana things I've learned about:

Hii-Lift is located in Bloomfield - corp. headquarters and manufacturing since 1895.

One of the largest manufacturers of LP refrigerators and freezers is in Indiana (Dometic in Elkhart)

We are still the largest manufacturer of RVs

Eli Lilly stills does most R&D here, and a large part of their production domestically (yeah, they outsource a bunch, too).

All it costs them is a few votes. Who says people cannot be bought and entire countries sold.

5 Hour Energy is made in Wabash, Indiana!

My father speaks Chinese (albeit poorly) and is usually sent to China at least once a year to interpret for various foundations, etc. One of the wildest things he told me was that over there it's customary to give gifts to people you stay with, travel with, etc., but if you give a "made in China" gift it's seen as being in poor taste. One Chinese person told him it was because the work conditions were so terrible over there, it was like giving someone a reminder of someone's slave labor.

If you do research into the ownership of the American Named Company, you will likely fine it is owned by a Corporation in another Country. Sad, but it is true.

Some Brands in the Swiss Watch Industry is good at this lie.

Wife and I were recently car shopping (ended up with a Dodge Journey). Found that most of the "foreign" brands were at least assembled here in the US, while most of the "American" brands were from Canada, Mexico, or elsewhere. Not to mention Dodge is now owned by Italy's Fiat, and assembled in Mexico.
