I thought Chinatown in Chicago was pretty decent. Close to the ballpark, pretty healthy LEO presence for the Southside.
Cutting across town, from the Dan Ryan to Midway after midnight is a lot more "sporty".
In police work, that's called a clue.
Is there a payday loan place and a cell phone store on the opposite corner?
Mars Hill st , just north of Troy , west side of the street . House with a big bay window facing the street , Nazi flag with crossed swords on both sides of it .
At night the shades were always open and the lights were on , kinda like they planned it that way . Haven't been that way in awhile so it's probably gone now .

There's indicators I look for when I determine if I'm in a bad area.
Crazy colored run down houses.
Trash all over yards
People walking around everywhere or just hanging out next to the road.
Chicken and BBQ joints every block
Beauty salons and barber shops every block
Buildings with weird symbols on them and dudes in bow ties soliciting money in the roadways.
Abandoned buildings and run down buildings
Just to name afew.
I now live in 46222 between Kessler Blvd. and Tibbs Ave. and just North of 16th Street in the house I grew up in. Mostly new neighbors and the demographics and dynamics of the neighborhood have changed somewhat but their are still kids playing up and down the street just like we did sixty years ago we all still look out for each other and our homes and do not recall the last time I heard any shots nearby or even a report of a burglary or robbery on the block.
