    Actually, that's a "thimble" we empty the furnace's slag into it. So what you're seeing is slag (impurities)
    The furnace had more slag than the thimble could hold.
    Crane operator (you can see the crane hooks to the right) intentionally tilted it to spill some out.
    Thimble carrier might stop and you wouldn't want the slag to slosh into the cab and cook him.

    I actually have no idea. Could be.
