Inadequate heat treating...
My guess would be just a bad forging. I think it left the factory that way doesn't look like wear as no rub marks.

I still want a 1911.
Steel match at South Central this weekend. Just sayin.
Hmm I'd like to. This is a busy weekend for me.
This has become a great thread in that I'm learning a heck of a lot more about MIM and forged parts than I had known before. Good stuff.
I to have revisited this subject.
Personal experience with MIM in 1911's has been bleak.
Could it be crap material....most likely.
Will I leave it in any of my 1911's....absolutely not.
What MIM parts do you replace in your TRP's? Or maybe I should ask, what parts are MIM in the TRP?
If you are coming let me know so I can clean and lube my Wilson for you to use. It is nasty dirty after two days of handgun class and a couple range trips. Yes even dirty it runs fine but I like to knock out the gunk before it gets to nasty.
I wish I could afford a Wilson. Maybe I need to quite spending so much money on ammo and training.

I'm sure you have a few AR's you can sell to get a Wilson

Are they actually forged, or just machined from bar stock?
