    To believe this, you have to believe these people posses some super human traits that people that claim to support smaller government, fiscal restraint, etc. that join other parties don't...that their genetic code is written with something that will prevent them from falling prey to the same temptations that dems and reps do. I'm cyncial enough that I believe that if the LP ever ensconced itself in the seats of power, it would be milliseconds before they began letting their theoretical, governance perfection slip right down the toilet like any other party. For one, they would find they have to find a way to govern along side other people that get an equal vote and secondly, they'd start attracting their fair share of Trumps--those that want power and will mouth the right things just to get their nomination.

    That's what allows the LP to continue to say what they want, they know they have no real chance of winning anytime soon. If the LP candidate won the presidency in a baffling and shocking election it won't be too long until the rhetoric changes and the libertarian theorists would split between the president and the big L libertarians.

    And just like that, Huckabee lost the jewish vote. What a moron. Not that he has ever stood a snowballs chance in hell of getting the nod, but he should have known better.

    Did you really think he was going to get the Jewish vote anyway, the lion's share of which votes Democrat? Were you under any delusions the Jewish vote matters at all to him? He's not stupid. He knows who are his base. Evangelicals like all the pro-Israel talk. He's trying to assure his spot on the stage next month. Because of the limited debates, you're going to hear a lot more crazy talk from Republican candidates trying to score ratings. You saw it from Cruz. You saw it from Huxter. Rand Paul even half-assed tried some stuff. And of course, The Donald is a walking crazy talk factory.

    And maybe Trump lost the feminist vote, not that he had it...

    Amazing how the republicans can say one silly thing and they're dismissed out of hand. Hillary and Bernie say one tone deaf thing after another and all is well. :dunno:

    So which category does that put trump in? a steady flow of the ridiculous, but still coming back for more...

    Trump has no friends in the establishment or on the dem side of the aisle. Trump is giving voice to issues pissing off a great many people. I think he's a wolf in sheep's clothing but there's no denying, he's speaking for a large number of people...for now.

    Exactly. He just freely speaks without regard to political correctness, which is what many of us wish our politicians would do. But they all have to be so rehearsed and calculated and worried about what everyone thinks. Trump just says what he wants, and that really resonates with people. But it's likely going to be his political end. At some point he's going to make a mistake and say something that will turn people off. I just wish that'd be sooner rather than later.

    Not sure if this is the thread to use, but I watched Governor Perry on the FIVE last night. I thought it interesting that he said he disagreed with Colorado's decision on marijuana legalization but that he thought it was a state's rights issue and the not a federal issue. Certainly different than Governor Christie's position.

    Here's the lineup for the "debate" Thursday.

    [h=5]Abdul-Hakim Shabazz

    [/h]
    The GOP debate field is set... Trump, Bush, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

    Not sure where Fox got the "poll" numbers they based their choices on. Carson isn't even making a showing in the national polls. Huckster got in because he's a former Fox talking head, no doubt. Kasich just got in, so I'm not sure what they've based his validity on, either. The others I can at least see. They're actually players.

    someone published Trump's cellphone number, so he changed his message to a campaign message.

    Duh.

    Who didn't see that coming?
    Shows how people think and react differently to the same thing. When Trump posted Lindsey Graham's phone number Graham smashed his phone on youtube.

    Yeah I'm not sure how either Huckabee or Carson made it to the big one. All I know is that this primary is going to be a blood bath. The RNC is going to have a tough time if Trump keeps pulling numbers. If he's still in 1st place after a few debates I can see him going to the RNC (who clearly does not want him) and telling them that if he doesn't get the nod he'll run 3rd party, and that'll destroy any hope of a republican winning.
