This is why I pay attention to who I deal with and look at past posts. This is exactly the thing the 50 post rule lets us all see. What kind of a person the member probably is. Not all the time, but if it looks like a duck....

Sadly, there are many that only look at the item and price and that's as far as it goes. I prefer not to deal with certain types of people. Attitude plays a large part of that. Personally, I'd like to see it go to 100 posts. Lots of people will say that's too much, but even then it's still minor compared to some other places. Rules for the casting site are pretty harsh compared to here. There are many, here are a few.

6 Months Active Membership & 100 Post requirement to sell:
Must be an active member for a minimum of 6 months with a minimum of 100 post. No requirement to be a buyer. See "Grandfather Clause"

    Grandfather Clause:
Members with a join date before July 2015 must have a minimum of 30 post. All other rules apply.

    Allowable amount of ads:
Maximum of 3 ads may be listed and/or open per month. Maximum of 3 ads may be started per calendar month. Only 3 open/active threads at one time. Current ads must be completed and closed before future ads can be listed the following month. If any ad is not completed and closed when the following month begins it will count against the monthly allowed. Member must wait until the beginning of the new month before a new ad may be listed. Does not apply to Vendor Sponsor, see Vendor Sponsor Rules Below.

Allowable amount of items per ad:
Maximum of 5 items per ad. If more than 5 members can purchase items from one ad then you are selling more than 5 items in that ad.

    Cross Posting:
No cross posting, if the items are not for sale here exclusively do not list them here.

This stops under the radar business/flippers.

I'm going it the normal route. I read a lot but generally don't post much because by the time I get to the thread I have no additional value other than a +1 or something. But a few posts here and there and I'm up into the mid-40s ... not too much further. This has been a healthy exercise so no harm.

This doesn't sound unreasonable to me. Although if it were up to me you would need to be a sight supporter, period.

What amazes me is the amount of guys that are running a business out of the Ads section. We need to start a thread on "Who's the flipper" that would ding their sales, maybe even shame them in to ponying up a sight supporter fee. I will not buy from something from someone that hasn't posted a useful post since they got to the classifies. there is one reason they are here. And that is to use the sight for personal gain. They are of no value to the community. JMHO.

I might wavier if I see a sight supporter badge. Other wise, go insert your self in to a board with a flat bladed object.

There are more rules than the ones I listed. I just hit the highlights. You also can't sell anything that isn't casting/reloading/firearm related. I love how they put it:

"As time has gone on, more and more items have been showing up on this part of the forum, that are not casting related. And, casting, reloading tools, accessories, and firearm items are the only items that are acceptable for sale here. We don't want someone stretching things to include Uncle Jacks socks, because he cast boolits in them, back in 1946.
We will allow casting related items. We will allow machine tooling, as this type item is used in mold making, and swaging dies. We will not allow things like table saws, air conditioners, clothing, vacuum cleaners, or pool tables. Tools related to building firearms are permitted. These are specific tools, so don't try dodging things here.
When these turn up in the future, they will be gone. Don't expect a message, or an apology. These are the rules, and we don't apologize for following the board rules. They are what make this board a good place to come."

There are so many people running a business out of the classifieds it's not even funny. There are many on my ignore list just because of the amount of firearms they deal in. Makes you wonder when you see those who have been members for 5+ years and 100 normal posts but 2000 in the classifieds. Some may be dealers, but I'm sure many are not. I make sure I don't deal with them. I know the chances of running into a 'dealing without a license' problem are slim, but I can cut the odds down to zero by not dealing with those people at all.

Looks like I missed the fun today. I was expecting to see someone new making the run. Took me a minute to notice he's been a member for 5 years. I'm sure he'll be another one with 50 or 51 posts and 2k in the classifieds soon. He'll hit his 50 or get get a one year membership (probably never to be renewed) then we all get to wade through his WTS posts in the new post section.

Maybe we could start a pool. You buy a square with a number on it then at a certain day and time the players and the designated controller mark all forums read. After 12 hours we count the number of WTS ads in the new post section. If you bought that box you win, no match it rolls over.

To become a member of O.G.C.A. you have to be vouched for by two current members. Perhaps a similar requirement to use the classifieds, with the vouchsafing members required to have a certain (high) post level?
