    Question for you guys. I may be teaching a friend of my wifes how to shoot a semi-auto 9mm. She is familiar with .38 revolvers, but wants to buy a semi-auto 9mm.

    Which gun would you use to teach her?? A striker fired (M&P9) a SA/DA (3914) or a DAO.

    Anything single action capable. Easy to learn on and then move to the longer and harder pull of the DA. This has worked for me with females.

    I would say a striker, but I'd let her shoot a variety to see which she handled better so she has an idea of what she wants to buy.

    Kind of what I was thinking. She doesn't know what she wants, but so many of the 9mm handguns in her price range are striker fired. ($500-$600)

    There's so many choices and sizes in the M&P line I figure she'll probably have a better selection, and she can go up in caliber and still keep a compact handgun if she chooses to.
