Took it out back and I hit snow!!!!! Next time I'll put bullets in it. :D

I got the SA from Midwest Gun Exchange. After the paperwork was done the salesman, Adam, who is a member here gave the gun the twice over and found the mag release would stick. He got me another one and knocked $50 off the total.

I need to learn how to field strip it though. Anyone have a good pointers, tips, etc? I have never took a 1911 down.

    Youtube it.

CM would know better than me, but if it is a full length guide rod you need an allen wrench to unscrew it and remove it first.

I'm no expert, but from experience I can tell ya:

Unscrew guide rod, turn barrel nut, remove spring and cap (be careful not to shoot it across the room), slide the slide back to so the little notch is over the takedown pin, push pin through, slide the slide forward off the frame.

It is and it came with one. I thought I'd ask the experts here before I googled it.

I just took to long typing out the instructions and the damn site NAZI time clock would not allow me to post..................:(
    I really hate that

    Db,

There are many u-tube videos on tear down, cleaning and maint. for your new 1911. If you have any questions PM me and I will drop my cell number to you and walk you through it. Not hard after you do it a few times.
