I made a decision. I'm going with the M&P9C.

Got the chance to manhandle a Shield and it didn't feel as nice as the 'C' model. The shield would make a good pocket dress up gun but I want more ammo in my magazine.

That's kind of how I felt. When I first started carrying, I'd always thought it was tougher for someone like me (slim build) to carry. But it's much easier than i'd thought, and the 9c holds more ammo. Plus, same holster, backups mags, etc. That weighed more heavily with me.
I'm glad you found a solution that fits you!
