But I'm NOT going up/down the stairs anymore than I have to.

I was dreading telling my landlord I was golfing this afternoon and wouldn't be able to help him work on my car. He said that's OK. His tone said something else. I said "so you don't want me there mucking it up and confusing you?" He replied that was it,
