That's pretty bad...First time I drove to Chicago to see my sister it took me 8 hours.

Well, have a safe trip DB....Be careful, lot's of idiots out there.
That's pretty bad...
I am doing a from the raw 1911 right now. It was rough as hell. Frame and slide are fit up. It was so tight as not to fit at all.
Beaver tail is about 80% done. I need more abrasives.
That's the way the STI frame and Fusion slide were...not even close
Very satisfying when you get one to fit up properly. By hand.....
next time I will stick with Caspian slide and frame, those are tight but normally not too far off
I am not sure who made the slide but the frame has a name on it. Both are over 10 years old. Picked them up from a friend that has had them in a drwaer since he picked them up way back then. Both are sturdy/well made just un-finished....very rough.
That the way mine were when I built my first Action Pistol 1911 years ago. I did learn to love Robar's NP3 finish...very slick
I just got my M&P slide and frame fitted nicely, and the beaver tail is seamless.
I was using a carbon steel frame and stainless slide, had the frame coated and had to increase the recoil coil spring considerably. It has never shown any signs of wear either
