Ah I support bigots for political office now? I dare ask how many actual politicians you've been able to vote for whom you didn't find bigoted?

People are usually wiling to overlook the warts on their own guys and gals whlie fixating on those on the other guys' guys. The Johnson/Weld ticket is loaded with them but since they're your guy and support the things you support you look at that offering from a very different prospective than I do.

I suppose it's easier just to throw rocks from the sideline.

You say that as if you think it's a desired destination. I really wish I had a candidate that I believe should be president. See? That bar isn't even all that high. I could vote for someone who I think won't **** things up too bad. As of now, I think that person is Al Bundy.

There's a little selection bias there, you know all his positions but because the media and those on this forum prefer to focus on truly minute social justice issues you pretend like his positions on economic policy aren't vastly superior to those of Trump and Clinton. We're willing to gloss over sane ideas about fiscal and foreign policies based on the 3 nazis who'll want personalized birthday cakes this year? Give me a break.

Yep. Unrestricted weed, hell yes. Unrestricted freedom of religion, not so much. NEXT!

Even as an un-reconstructed Trumper, jamil, I would jump at mutual disarmament. We drop Trump and they drop HiLIARy and we go with Rand Paul vs Joe Biden

We all have our biases, apparently. You have your priorities and I have mine. You're willing to give a pass to a bigot, I'm not.

That's rich. Do you know what the word bigot actually means?

It means intolerance towards those holding a different view. Every single person on this planet is a bigot, it just depends on the subject. It's an empty word.

Typically there are qualifiers on that definition that include terms such as hate and narrow mindedness. It also is typically used in relation to people that hold those that dislike others' religion, race, etc. So, it depends on which source you use for your definition. I'm good standing by my statement.

Uhhh, Merriam-Webster is a bit more nuanced

    bigot

    noun big·ot \ˈbi-gət\
    Popularity: Top 1% of lookups
    Simple Definition of bigot

    • : a person who strongly and unfairly dislikes other people, ideas, etc. : a bigoted person; especially : a person who hates or refuses to accept the members of a particular group (such as a racial or religious group)

Weld was/is a typical New England Republican. Libertarianish on many issues, a bit left on some and totally confused on real libertarian issues, with some fiscal responsibility that precludes being a democrat. Not sure why Johnson chose him, other than mutual admiration, but he's the choice now. VP is an unimportant slot, for the most part so I tend to ignore most of the crap that comes out of his yap. My focus is on Johnson, who would be in the catbird seat. He's the one saying most of the right stuff.

I can agree there. I do think that admiration for a guy like Weld disqualifies the judgement of Johnson. I really wish Austin Peterson would have won the nomination. I'd probably be supporting him. Johnson? Just can't do it.

ETA: Saying that freedom of religion is a black hole isn't the right stuff.

I think I would be too. His immaturity is a problem sometimes. I disagree with some of the things he condones but at least he leaves room in his policy positions for accommodating others and their preferences. He wants smaller government, even in the SJW related issues.

Probably is for he demographic he's pandering to.

It's not freedom of religion that's the black hole, it's the so-called RFRA type things that he talking about. He's all for freedom of religion, but when it impinges on others rights someone has to give. A couple of pages back I posted his clarification on that. He actually admires what Utah did with their RFRA-like law, that took into consideration everyone's rights when they crafted it and was nothing like the Pence led debacle that the American family association nuts foisted on Indiana. We've managed to get along well for decades without these things, we can continue without them.
