    Except, unlike this Sad Sack, I prefer it that way.

    My newest piece of audio gear (my main listening rig) is a sandpile from '09. Luxman preamp.
    Most of my gear in that rig is tube based and I know no one who cares.
    I'm blessed.
    I do have a nephew who wants me to BLAST Metallica on my gear when he comes by.
    That's close enough.

    Pioneer wooden cabinet turn table (1970's)
    Pioneer wooden cabinet tape deck (1970's)
    Nakamichi cd-200 cd player
    Pioneer rt-700 4 track reel to reel.
    Acoustic research AR-10 speakers
    All stuffed into a 12x12 room that is the man cave.

    The wife likes the dennon 5.1 and the kLIPSCH speakers but often does not even turn them on the watch tv or a movie and always complains when I do and watch something as the explosions are to loud.

    I thought so also and now I see a few extremely inexpensive class d amps that dollar for dollar blow away the old tube amps.

    Still nothing like having to turn it on 10 minutes before listening to warm stuff up. My ears and most peoples ears can not tell the difference (mine used to be able to) but if you are playing compress ion media and not high res audio it is **** in **** out.
