While funny, the plural of octopus is octopodes, not octopi. Its origin is of the Greek language not Latin. The misconception is so complete in our society, that even the spell check considers "octopi" to be correct, but kicks out the word "octopodes".

Interesting. Guess a lot of people have just gotten use to changine the "us" and "um" to "i" and a to "ae."
