    While funny, the plural of octopus is octopodes, not octopi. Its origin is of the Greek language not Latin. The misconception is so complete in our society, that even the spell check considers "octopi" to be correct, but kicks out the word "octopodes".

    Thank you. I regularly bring up the "octopodes" thing when I see or here "octopi", and my friends hate me now. :)
