I was told a few weeks ago by a Dick's employee that they had gotten 40,000 rounds of .22Lr on a Wed.
Put it on the shelves and it was all gone in 3 hours! 40,000 rounds in 3 hours!

No wonder no-one can find it.

    This gets tiresome.

I understand there are smartphone apps to find ammo. If you don't mind carrying one of these NSA tracking devices...

    Ironic.

Well, I think its pretty clear that all electronic communications and devices, not just smart phones, are subject to NSA monitoring. That inlcudes your posting on this website. :)

So far this afternoon, Indianapolis 1580 and Warsaw 1304 Wal-Marts have received cases of the Winchester 555's. I don't know if these will go on the shelves tonight or tomorrow morning.

Checked the Warsaw Walmart this morning when the firearms counter opened. No joy on .22 LR. Now that's not to say they Wichester 555's werent put on the shelves yesterday aond immediately sold. Nor is it to say that they aren't still sitting in the back in teh security area being checked in or waiting to be released to the "floor". I suppose that one of the Walmart employees could jsut be buying them up as the come in, too.

In any case, they weren;t available in the small window that I checked. Unfortunately none of us can sit around waiting to see if the will hit the shelves!

This kind of reminds me of the Beany Baby Craze of a few years back when folks followed the UPS truck from place to place to see what newest offering was hitting the shelves!

The intent of this thread was not to start an I don't have any ammo and I want to whine about it thread.

My meaning is , I make sure to ask employees at the ammo counter in various stores , how long since you have had 22 lr ammo and unless the are lying to me , there is darn little in my area making it to the shelves.

Makes me wonder where its going.

And by the way I am far from running out myself

.22LR disappears at alarming rate locally , people buy it advertise it on craigslist or local gun shows , want way more then they paid , wonder where its going.. local tractor show a guy had remington golden bullets 525rd brick , it sold for a $100.00 , would not have believed it if it did not sell in front of me...
walmart locally has been getting a lot , last only minutes though...been lucky to have what i have

.22lr is out there, you just have to be 5 steps ahead of other people. Which can be difficult for some people.

I wonder where all the Federal .22lr went! I've seen everything at stock at most Wallys since this all happened. Not ONCE have I seen the bulk Federal packs in stock

Guys, I don't like ammo flippers either, but they are not the cause of this "shortage". If the flippers weren't buying ammo, someone else still would be. I'm buying up tons of ammo, but I'm not flipping any of it. All of my buddies are doing the same thing. The only thing fueling this is that the vast majority of the population is uncertain about what lies ahead and is stockpiling what they can.

I just checked my numbers, and Hoosier Wal-Marts have received 175,650+ rounds of .22LR since last Wednesday -- and that is assuming that each only got one case of the following ammo listed:

The 225-round and 555-round boxes come 10 to a case, and the 1000-round boxes come 2 to a case. I didn't even bother including the 333-round packs in my 175K count, as I don't know how many boxes come in a case. Those three stores with them would be another 999 rounds times the number of boxes in a case -- possibly another 10K rounds added to the count. Again, the 175K+ estimate is assuming that all the ammo at each store above was only one case, while you can bet that some got more than one case each day.

So, just looking ONLY at Indiana Wal-Mart stores, they got somewhere around 200K rounds of .22LR in stock in just four days time. And this was a low week from what I've seen. I'm not even including other .22LR such as the Remington 525-round packs and CCI that may have shown up, nor does the count include any other store besides Wal-Marts. I'd hate to think of how high the total would be if you included every other store and gunshop that sold .22LR in the state of Indiana.

The numbers after each store are the store numbers and not round counts.

I followed up on this at 2 different stores. Both advised me that they have not received any 22 lr ammo for over 4 weeks now. Just say'n..

Just say'n, they're lying. I've luckily only experienced this twice, but if an Item shows "in stock" and then "out of stock" 5 hours later. IT WAS IN THE FREAKING STORE SOMEWHERE AT ONE POINT!

Start taking proof in with you. I.E. app screen captures/print it from online. I haven't had to use any of them yet as of late, but sooner or later, I'll run into someone who is trying to pull a fast one, and whip out proof with a smile

Do you know these associates personally? They have a financial advantage at stake. I have already seen store associates "modify" stock levels. It happens in all retail stores.

What a world we live in where Walmart employees are out to get us. They're trying to keep us down! To the gallows with the lot of them.

If it was one of the stores that I listed. then they flat out lied to you if they said they haven't gotten any .22LR in the last month. That, or it is someone that doesn't work the shift that ammo is put out and they are just ignorant of the fact. I guarantee you that all the stores listed got the .22LR shown. No doubt in my mind whatsoever.
