Quite so. I stand by my supposition that Bernie is the Trump of the left, to the extent that he is a long shot candidate but seems so much more authentic than the competition and an alternative to business as usual. I have difficulty guaging the strength of the reaction since Trump was more a reaction to the impression America was circling the drain while progressives pretty much had everything going their way prior to Trump. The question becomes will the reaction to losing one after a string of 'successes' be as strong as the reaction that a candidate was the last hope/gasp of the America that was

I absolutely think Bernie will be the candidate and have for some time, and although we certainly should not get complacent I think America in the breech will not elect a Socialist of any stripe

I'm pretty sure that Bernie will win the primaries. I'm not *as* sure that he'll be the nominee though. I would not put it past the DNC to try to **** him out of it if he wins it outright.

One thing though, it didn't seem to me that the other Democrats in the race acted as if Bernie was the one to beat. They hit him with softballs, and seemed to be more interested in attacking an already defeated candidate. They wiped him out of contention in the previous debate. Shapiro made the point that Warren's "attacks" on Bernie seemed to be more like handing him her resume for running mate. He's not wrong.

I think the nomination is his to lose

It's certainly not up to the other candidates. They wouldn't know how to identify the front runner if there were arrows and signs pointing to Bernie saying, ATTACK THIS GUY! Well. Except Buttplug. He seemed to know the fight was against Bernie. And he doesn't have a snowall's chance in hell of winning.

I disagree, at least for the moderate candidates. Should those who know they don't have a chance drop out, I imagine most of their support would go to whichever moderate is left.

When they have their convention in Milwaukee, I’m waiting for someone to come up and hit him with a chair while he’s on stage. Mike Obama maybe.

Once Bernie wins the nomination will he chance the symbol of the Democrats to a hammer and sickle?

So minority weed salesman groundbreaking novel idea!

Yes. But I was using it more as a play on words, saying that it's not up to them by their own doing because they can't figure out who is in the lead. I'm not so certain they'll be able to figure out when to drop out either. But it may all happen so fast it'll be obvious by Wednesday, after it's too late for anyone to get any good points on Bernie. Biden is way up in SC and has a comfortablish lead in Florida, so he's got a reason to stay in well beyond super Tuesday, even if he only wins SC on super Tuesday.

I don't see Bootyjudge wining much else in the near future. He's the only other candidate right now with delegates, so he has a reason to stay in for a few weeks. Well. Not that Bootyjugdge is actually a moderate, but people perceive that he is. Bloomy never had a chance, but I think he will stay in for some indeterminable time because then he can spend all the anti-Trump, anti-Bernie money he wants as long as he stays in. Klobuchar will probably be the first moderate to drop out. If she gets nothing out of super Tuesday, I think she's gone by the end of next week after she has a few days of reflection. Then I think Bootyjudge and Biden will absorb the small following she had.

But don't underestimate the power of the mind to do irrational things like switch to the side that's winning.

    Wow. Bernie. WTF?

Now. Normally, with a typical candidate, his ass would be done after something like that. Bernie can get away with it. Probably not with those communities. But the Bernie bros will think the ideology is more important than the other.

Well, historically, communists have always been violent when you don't support them.

Prove me wrong. Show your work.
