    Why....because of heart stents?

Being President isn't exactly a healthy job, and life expectancy is still a thing. Much like how people freaking out about Sarah Palin being the de facto President if McCain won.

But I guess Carter is still alive and kicking around. Dunno.

I see someone like Sanders as a vessel to make his VP the President. But I know I'm being conspiratorial with that.

So I am curious - who on that dais do you think can beat Trump?

At this point, probably only Mini-Mike. He's got lots of warts, for sure, but he's the default choice with Biden fading. It's still early yet. I'm hoping they'll draft Sherrod Brown.

    Or Tom Hanks.

Dude- as a practical matter, it is too late. :) The cards have been dealt. (I think there's a joke in there about 2 queens, a jack of hearts, and 3 old jokers. Or maybe 3 queens.)

Probably. Kinda the same pipe dream I had about Mitch Daniels.......

Well, I don't have to vote. Red State and all that. I'll potentially skip the presidential choice.

Nobody is going to save the Democratic Party!

Bernie is on a glide path to win the nomination the average Democratic person is a Socialist who believes fantasy tales about public healthcare they are anti gun and pro abortion.
Leaves a lot of people out in the cold hopefully some will see the light and get on right path soon.

    Btw
Ol Bernie is hiding something in the health records I could see the Stacy Abrams chick as his VP

No worries for the Dems; Joe Biden says Mickey Mouse could beat Trump.

As far as medical records, why has no one asked to see Pete's medical records?

Amy Klobuchar unintentionally displayed the biggest reason Bloomberg couldn't win in a general election: Democrats as a group don't believe that capitalism is worth supporting. He might be able to buy the Democrat nomination, but they won't be enthusiastic enough to come out to vote for him in November.

I dunno - Democrats, as a group, hate Trump. That's about the only thing you can state unequivocally.

As to, "don't believe that capitalism is worth supporting", well that's a hardcore progressive thing. Plenty of traditional democrat voters (think union, pro-choice types) aren't on board with socialism yet.

I'd expect a lot of democrats will be "reluctant Bloomies" the same way that many of us are "reluctant Trumpers". Do what it takes to get control of the oval office, no matter how much you disagree with the person you put in there.

No, it wasn't directed at you.

Pete would be fine if he was a SINGLE gay guy. There will be tremendous pushback against a married gay in the White House. Personally, I'm not ready for it. Is it a deal breaker? Probably.

The up side of a Pete presidency would be that we would have a new face for the $2 bill...

If the economy is still moving along in a positive direction and Trump doesn't mess with Social Security, I think a lot of traditional democrats may just stay home. I haven't heard any traditional democrats in my circle that objected to Trump's Supreme Court choices. Most objections have been on trade wars, lowering taxes for the very wealthy and tweeting. Old men should not tweet.

You've taken the long route to say exactly the same thing I did. Being anti-Trump is not a positive direction. Hardcore progressives appear to be the most motivated subsection of the Democrat base right now. Based on your analysis, they appear to be a large section of the people who attended the debates. Bloomberg will have a hard time getting them out to vote.

The Democrats had four years to prepare for this election instead they wasted the time trying to impeach the President which has made him stronger.
In addition the IA caucus was a debacle and now it looks like no results will be available for NV till the next day.

Do not make the mistake of believing in the myth of this “moderate Democrat” very few exist and the ones that do exist have more in common with Trump supporters than Bernie bro’s.

    Democrat = Communist

C'mon Brad. That is utter nonsense.

Most of the Boomer democrats would hit a person in the throat if they were called communists. These were the men and women who fought in Indo China or lost sons or were among 300,000 wounded there.

    Pish posh.

Moderate Democrats exist the same way that moderate Republicans exist. But you're absolutely right, they'd identify more with Trump than Bernie. Having Bernie be the nominee would be Trump's wet dream.

Then...gasp... there's actually people that don't identify with either!

Four years ago, we were all anti-Hillary, and that worked out OK (well, sort of). We were all worried that traditional conservatives would stay home, but they didn't.

Bloomberg would get my wife's vote, along with the soccer mom's, the college educated, the... all the people that think that Bernie is a crackpot.

The data you are missing is the fact that an average of 20% of the Trump rallies are registered dems, 26% in AZ last night. There has been a major party realignment in the Trump era. Even the union bosses cannot hold out from their members shift and are, albeit slowly, moving republican. (Public employee unions excepted.) Anyone thinking the voters are the same as 2012 is beginning any calculations with a faulty start.
