The silver lining is that Iowa has pretty much lost the position as first primary. That is good for the party.

I can understand that any time someone changes voting mechanics, it is likely to get screwed up. Non-technology oriented paid staff. Volunteer staff involvement as well to some degree. This could have been handled faster with an excel spreadsheet and a phone bank.

From Bill Whittle: The Iowa caucus process did not commit suicide!

After the Trump tweet about Bloomberg negotiating for a box or to wear lift shoes CNN actually did a fact check on the subject thereby putting it in the liberal news. In another case of Trump out maneuvering the media, in their zeal to do a cheap story about how Trump is wrong, the media will be checking if Bloomberg will try to get a box or wear lift shoes. If he does Trump is right, if he doesn't Trump will tower over him in debates because Bloomberg is 7 inches shorter.

By giving the media this bait he put himself in a can't lose position...

This is getting very funny, this is obviously an insecurity that haunts Bloomberg. Trump did not bring this up out of left field.

    Via The Washington Free Beacon)
In a 2002 report on Bloomberg's first mayoral press conference, the New York Daily News reported that Bloomberg used a box at his mayoral inauguration. "The box, however, ended up causing trouble; Bloomberg nearly fell while stepping off it as he returned to his seat," the newspaper reported.

    ...
The New York Post also remarked upon Bloomberg's early use of a box in a 2013 piece about Bloomberg's Democratic successor, Bill de Blasio. The Post reported that the city had to bring in a mayoral podium that could accommodate de Blasio's six-foot-five frame.

In 2015, Bloomberg needed to use "a step platform" when speaking at the same podium as de Blasio. The Post estimated that Bloomberg was "nearly a foot shorter." That would place Bloomberg closer to 5-foot-5 than his purported height of 5-foot-10.

    ...
Bloomberg's actual height has long been a source of speculation and conflicting news reports, including from the man himself. His driver's license lists him as 5-foot-10. In 2001, the billionaire told a Newsdayreporter that he was "in the ballpark" of six-foot-one. A few days later, he told the press, "When you're 5-[foot]-10 like me, you want to make sure the podium isn't too low." His account of his height has changed over time. In 2006, he said, "What chance does a five-foot-seven billionaire Jew who’s divorced really have of becoming president?" A 2003 Daily News article placed him at five-foot-six, as did a 2013 Post piece.

Height does seem to play some sort of role in the presidential selection process. In the television era, nearly all the president's have been over or very near the six-foot mark. As the Free Beacon notes, if Bloomberg wins the nomination, Bloomberg would be the first male major political party nominee to be shorter than five-foot-eight in 100 years.

Jimmy Carter stood five-foot-nine inches tall, which may help explain America's reluctance to go quite that short ever again.

So is that why Jimmy was advocating the Metric system? He wanted to use made up numbers where no one would no if 175cm was short or tall?

Yeah, do away with the Iowa caucuses because a tiny (42nd in population) diverse (93% white) state that's 60% urban will make a much better bellwether of what the country really wants

Kind of think it should be Florida: 37% Dem, 35% Rep, 28% Ind/other and diverse mix of movers from 28 other states in 2018 (only 36% of FL population is native born)

Joe's last chance is an endorsement from Obama, it's now or never.

And the rumor is Obama is leaning toward endorsing Warren

Bernie going to get screwed again, and I think that's going to cause a similar rift with Democrats much like Trump did with Republicans.

    .
In the democrat primaries of 1972 there was a large field with George McGovern ending up the nominee. He was probably the most socialist leaning candidate of the group except for maybe Shirley Chisholm. Beating out more conservative candidate like Hubert Humphrey, Scoop Jackson and Edmund Muskie, McGovern went on to lose to Richard Nixon in the election. At some point I have to wonder if the DNC will just let Bernie alone and figure this as a 1972 election.
