I have a birthday coming up very soon.............. In August. The big 25. :faint:

Nothing big about 25 Rusty. You will probably live long enough to do everything you've ever done 3 more times if you want to. Bear in mind, some of the things you did when you were a child would be really inapproriate to do now that you're 25. If you decide to do them again anyway, it's probably best to not share that publicly.

To be honest, your best years are ahead. As much fun as I was having in my 20s, there's no way I'd trade my 30s to do them again. As much fun as the 30s were, the 40s put them to shame. So far, my 50s are shaping up to be the best yet. Take a look at CM. He's making being in his 60s look like a whole lot of fun too. I can only hope my 60s work out for me as well as they're working for CM.

One thing I heard last summer from a guy who had just turned 70 really stuck with me. I rode down with my boss and his engine building partner to Muncie Dragway to watch a couple of their engines test and tune. The man who had just turned 70 was racing his dragster. He made a comment, "when I turned 60 I knew I'd still be doing what I love to do by the end of the decade, now that I'm 70, I know I won't be doing what I want to do at the end of this decade..." he was referring to racing. It just really stuck with me.

Time is precious and we have so little of it here on earth. This is why I encourage everyone who is unhappy with what they are doing in life to change it! Do what you wanna do and be happy! I wake up everyday determined to be happy. Right now I love what I do, but it is no longer a passion. I am losing interest and thinking about where to go next.

The window gets smaller rapidly from 60 on. It is a day by day thing. Reaction times go south along with vision/hearing. Noticeable drops in energy and even tolerance sometimes. Naps come easier. Staying out in the shop till the wee hours are just not going to happen.

Sounds like you have a good grip on what's important in life. The thing I try to make my kids understand is that it's not about stuff. Life is not about things, but about relationships. Friendships and family are what makes a happy life, not things. Sure, things can be fun, but at the end of the day, they are just things.

No energy. Ice packs taped on me knee. In bed by 9..... Damn I'm old.
