I'm pretty sure sometime last year, BA posted a shot of his 85 that was coated in midnight blue, with wooden grips. It turned out to be a very fetching combination, IMHO.

The midnight blue was one of my favorites.

Yup, that's the one I had in mind when thinking of going midnight blue. I'd have to figure out what grips I'd want though. I tend to put VZs on everything, but midnight blue screams for nice checkered wood grips.

Gunmetal gray was also pretty good.

That color blue looks black in certain light if memory serves.

Decisions decisions. It's hard trying to figure out what a gun should look like. Currently looking at several trying to figure out how they should look. Gonna play around with some Cerakote by mixing some colors, see if I can come up with something special.

Agreed. It's exactly the color I will refinish my S&W Model 19 in once the time is right. Right now, the original finish is 90%+, and I can't bring myself to do it just yet... it's only original once.

I think that I need to slow the koolaid guzzling down a bit. I added up all the parts I'd need to finish the unfinished project guns I have and it came to over 3k worth of parts needed after this last parts buy. There are some 1911 projects in that total. To CM, that's just one guns worth of parts. For me, that's spread across a few.

I'm gonna take it easy for a little bit. I have some other things to take care of. Then I really should be concentrating on ammo so I can continue to run these ladies. Sure am having a lot of fun right now though!
