Thank you all. I really appriciate it. This is the first time I've had to go through this with a really close family member. I'm struggling, but know it's best for her. Trying to keep my mind occupied with other things so I don't turn into a complete wreck.

    Sorry to hear that Rusty.
My dad went through a year of treatment for bone, lung, and liver cancer before he passed.
    It's rough.
All the best to you and your family.

Sorry to hear this Rusty. Celebrating her life is the best thing you can do. We all pass on eventually and when we do, it's a great honor to have your family celebrate the joy they had in having you in their lives. If the people that know you best celebrate having had you in their life, then you were a great success in life.

    Morning guys! :coffee:

Have fun Tom. Early morning range trips are some of the best things in life. Even in December when it's still dark when you get there. Beats heading straight into work by a long shot.

I refinished the transitional yesterday, again, using left over Duracoat from other projects and went with the same dark grey color. I reshaped the beaver tail area to be more smooth in profile to match the current CZs. I'm going to order a set of Meprolites this week and that gun will be done. With grips, springs and gun, I'm into it right now for $407. Meprolites will bring that up to $475, which is a steal given how nicely it turned out.

This is how it was originally shaped:

Thanks Tim, the range trip was excellent. That gun came out fantastic! :yesway:

Morning all. Today is gonna be a rough day for me and my family. My grandmother for the last couple years has been battleing bone cancer which has also brought on some other diseases. She is at the point now where her quality of life is nothing and she has decided that she's done fighting. The doctors can do no more than prolong the inevitable. Today all our family is coming in town to celebrate her life.

She is the strongest person I know. Raised 6 kids by herself after my grandfather left her for another. She's always been there for any of us. I can't remember a single holiday that our whole or most of our family got together and she was the ring leader. I pray that she goes quickly, quietly and peacefully. I'm gonna miss that "ol hag", her words not mine :).... Ok enough tears, I hope you all have a wonderful day.

My condolences Rusty. Prayers for you and your family.

    Looks great, Tim.
You certainly know how to make them your own. I love it. Beaver tail looks professionally done too.

I'm probably not going to get mine refinished until late fall or winter, so the gears in my mind will be turning until then. I'll leave one in rough condition indefinitely, the other will be cera or dura coted probably.

What is the best product to strip the polycoat? You bead blast or something chemical?
    Thanks, I appreciate the compliments.

When I refinished the first three pre-Bs I bought, I used a chemical stripper and it was a PITA. With the latest round of refinishing, I've been bead blasting with a fine glass bead at higher than normal pressure (around 70psi). The Polycoat is some tough stuff, but it comes off fairly quickly when blasted.

Prayers sent your way. It is very hard to go thru watching a family member fade. When I lost my Dad it was after much time in the hospitals and long term care. Be strong, lean on family.

Was perusing GB (I know, I know:ugh:) It seems to me that prices are beginning to rise again. That is really obvious on the used and surplus guns. I think maybe there are too many threads on how great these guns can turn out with a little time and money. Anyway, there are still a half dozen, or so, guns I would get if the money was available. They are decent deals, just not quite as good as a few months ago.
