    Go for it @T-DOGG

It won't be long and we'll be saying "we knew him back when he was just starting to dabble in this stuff and only somewhat crazy. Now he's full on crazy like a gunsmith version of Van Gogh and I Wish I could afford his work now"

(well except for mcapo, Chris, and gmcttr because well they have multiple staccato kind of $$$)

I know there are smiths that stipple hi powers as there isn't enough material to checker on the front straps as I've been told.

I believe @drillsgt is known to do some really nice looking hand checkering on 1911's, etc.

I have have one on the shelf. It was most likely used on a 22LR. I also have an older Harris that mounts to a sling stud. The Magpul is easier to get mounted.

It should work well on your savage. On heavier recoil guns, I like to lean in to load the bipod and I would lean toward rail mount or m-lok for that. The magpul/sling stud mount can work well with heavier recoiling guns...I just wouldn't preload it as heavily.
Thanks for the info. Looks like Amazon has the sling stud mounting version for $63. PA has them for $56 and change +shipping.

I may have to bite as the sling stud model is usually more than the other versions. Only reason I haven't already is I've been dropping some $. Decisions.

Wife is going to think she's racking up for Christmas until I start opening boxes.

He uses the Keller Checkering Fixture on his mill. Allen is not a skinflint. Be like Allen, don't be a Travis. Nobody likes a skinflint. Except me of course. I love me.
We love you too ... in a CZ kind of way ... not the weird way that some people think about these days.

Plus, you're our skinflint ... who else is going to claim you?

I am holding out for prices to come down on the Shadow 2 compact (maybe in a year or so).
