That's a bit spendy. I paid $550 shipped for my OD green P-01, brand new. I thought I'd seen the standard black for around $25 cheaper at the time I ordered mine. Now I can't seem to find any new ones. Very strange... :dunno:

If money is an issue, maybe used is the way to go.
New ones seem to be around $150+ more than used.
Call down to USDS and see if they can order one or watch for a used one.
    Indy1500 is next weekend...

I'll wait until she's had a chance to shoot more guns before I start looking too hard for her. She needs to shoot more of a variety first before she has a good idea of what she wants. Same goes for her fiance. Since the weapon will be shared, for home defense, they may change their minds after getting a chance to shoot more. We'll see how it goes.

Are we still hitting the 1500 next Saturday?

Wow, it's cold out there tonight. Glad to be inside with a fire going and some decent bourbon to sample. I did manage to rough fit the beavertail grip safety to the Springer today, but have not gotten any more reloading done. Today is also the first full day for carry for the 40P. I've run over 400 rounds through it since getting it from WTB and over 300 since the last issue was encountered. I've been shooting it well lately so decided to give the CCO a bit of a break. Actually, the main reason for going to the 40P today was that it's my best suited gun for gloved shooting.

I did get down to Atterbury yesterday, but did not do any shooting myself. I took a young couple down to teach them to shoot instead. She has shot before, but he had not. Both are wanting to get into shooting and are wanting to buy a gun for home defense. Yesterday was just an informal range trip to see how they liked it and they came away very excited to take some new gun owner classes and buy their first gun. We went over the four rules, practiced dry fire for a bit and then they ran 50 rounds through my G23 with a 9mm barrel and mag. It went really well and I think we have another couple moved to the pro-gun side.

On a side note, she teaches at IUPUI and said that when she told a coworker that they were going shooting this weekend, the coworker mentioned it to a professor that started to question her about whether she was depressed, did she need to talk to someone and was she having violent thoughts. All from simply mentioning that her and her husband were going shooting. It's sad to think that those are the type of professors teaching our young adults.

Overall, it was a very good weekend. Oh, except for the period where I was convinced that I had lost track of my Ed Brown Exec Carry. I realized that I had not touched it since November and went down to the safe to pull it out. It was not there. The last time I shot it was on Nov 18th with Tom and I have a log of having cleaned it after getting home, so I know I did not leave it at the range. I do sometimes keep that one in a hidden location in the house and went to check to see if it was there. It was not. For 3 hours, I dug through every corner of the house trying to figure out where it could have been put, but came up empty handed. At 7, I left for my brothers house to watch the Steeler game and was really worried about how I could lose my most expensive pistol. We've hosted a party over the holidays and I was going through everyone that was there and none are anyone I would ever suspect of lifting a gun.

Then, while watching the Steeler game, I remembered thinking that the safe was getting full when I was putting things away in November and one gun case was stuffed in on top of the other pistol cases instead of beside. Sure enough, when I went home, I found that it had slipped down behind the other pistol cases and was right were it should have been in the safe all along. I know, I'm an idiot, right? Other than that brief time, it was a great weekend.

I have issues keeping track of my gear.

I can understand that in your case with a fast as your collections evolves. It's a good problem to have when everything keeps getting better as you buy and sell stuff. In my case, it's just early onset senility I think.

I have parts and gear stashed in 3 different closets 2 cabinets and 2 safes. I have been gathering it all together and reviewing what I have.

The other day, I pulled the rifles out of the safe for a wipe down and while checking the SKS's, realized just how unbalanced those are with the bayonet installed. Used to love those things, but have not shot one in a couple of years. The rifle is very nose heavy, the sights suck and the trigger is terrible. I think I've been spoiled by ARs somewhat. It's funny how something you used to like can feel so awkward later on.

Glad to hear the 40P is doing well. I'm very grateful for the SS guide rod you gave me, as it's cleared up the issues with my 40P as well. I've put around 200 rounds through it since with nary a problem :)

That story about what that professor said makes me sad as well. Reminds me of a story from work. We have an intranet site at work and it's similar to a work only facebook site. We had an active shooter training video and on the page for it were comments by other employees. Down a bit, I see a man after my own heart say that if licensed CC personnel were allowed to carry, we wouldn't need to hide from an active shooter. A couple more posts down and a lady said she couldn't work in a place where people would carry, because people would shoot other employees any time they got mad... :ugh:

Tastes change. I sold all of my AKs and variants. They're just too rough around the edges for me.

Yep, agreed. I hate that attitude. It's like, what is wrong with people who think that? We don't knife people in the head if we happen to be holding a knife when we're mad (well, most of us), same with cars, same with guns. Part of living in a civilized society is having self control and self discipline. No different for this situation as opposed to many others. Idiots.

There is a compact down here by me new for 525.00 probably out the door?

    That's a good deal.

Hey CM, if you were to buy a Dan Wesson tomorrow, what would you buy? I'm looking at a Specialist but don't know a lot about them.

I have to admit I am not completely up to speed on the DW offerings. There was a time I did not much care for them for reasons personal to myself.
What they are offering up these days seems to be on point and has me looking hard at a few of them but I like to modify my guns and pulling the knickers down on one of them just does not fit my agenda.
You have to fondle and shoot a few before making that leap.
