Wonder what they got in return. Whatever it was, it's doubtful it benefited their constituents as much as it did themselves. Anyone voting for that bill should be primaried.

The role of money and non profits cannot be underestimated in the illegal immigration problem. You have the government giving money to large non profits, who give money to smaller non profits, who employ individuals all benefiting from the border problem. It is a national political machine with better obfuscating cover than the clinton global initiative.

This machine serves it's masters by kicking up votes, real or conjured, during elections. Chicago on a massive scale.

Non profit jobs grew at 4 times the rate of others in recent years, how many of those involve managing and assisting illegal immigration?

Joe crows about those new jobs all the time, what are those jobs?

Yeah, exactly it's nothing new. It's just two sides of the same coin playing up their anger to get people to put money in their pockets and to not make us not focus on the real issues that the corpo scum doesn't want us to think about.
I've posted this before, but I think it bares a repeat in this context. My unit was assigned to assist Border Patrol for 2 months as part of JTF-6. I believe it was 1998, but it could be a year +/-. We were Combat Engineers and we would spend a month building a fence and a month riding with BP alternatively. This was in Douglas, AZ. Relevant to this statement:

The BP heavily recruited us while we were there, come work for BP after the Army, no college degree required, pension rolls over, etc. Literally none of us did. Not one. The job just looked so no-win even then. Nothing you did could really make a difference even then. Catch and release even then.

I understand how bitter and cynical I sound on this topic, but it's a ****ing decades old issue that every single POTUS and Congress has ignored, actively assisted, and only made noise about when it was politically advantageous. Neither side wants to fix it, and I deleted the rest of what I typed because I don't need to rant that rant again. Few things I can't control work me up like this, and a side order of **** Bill Clinton.

The non-profits are fronts set-up by for profits if I remember correctly. It's just another illusion that there is more separation of things than there actually are. Just a giant monopoly spanning generations and is so old that they have their hands in every problem, solution, product, service etc.

When it comes to snatching defeat from the jaws of victory we can always trust in the republicans.

I feel like it was the 180 repeal Obama care votes that morphed into repeal and replace and when they had both houses and the president not an effing thing happened. Same thing with impeaching a traitor, it was never going to happen and they can claim they tried. I can't stand the uniparty anymore. Waste more time and my my money on a deal that won't work. Wait, I know cut off funding for every thing but then again there are very few who have the balls and the ones who do are chicks ironically.
