If you don't reload, finding quality 10mm is probably more difficult than your common calibers. I've never owned anything in 10mm, but from what I understand most factory 10mm ammo is pretty mild. Underwood Ammo would be a good source of full power loads...I'm sure there are others.

Not a glock fanboy, but I have always been somewhat drawn to the glock 29, for the guns small size and numbers that the 10mm puts out.

Go for it, you have to have something to keep you from being perfect.

Even if you do find ammo (and can afford it) chances are it isn't any more effective as a SD round than a 40.
Most bullet construction in 10mm/40 is designed and manufactured at 40 velocities, not hot 10mm.
Sure, you can find hot 10mm, but if its HP it probably wasn't intended for 10mm velocity.
