Sometimes we just have to keep our mouths shut. The teacher is obviously pro homosexual and I'm very sure all the students are aware because of his past actions.

The bad thing here is, no matter what my personal beliefs are, I fully support someone else's right to have the opposite and/or differing beliefs as well as their right to freely speak about it.

Odd that most of them dont return the favor..

I personally think this is exactly why our country is where it is. Sure, it's easier to sit back, not say anythin and save it for a more lofty battle but our society has changed dramatically in a very short period of time and the small battles will win in it in the end. Just my opinion.

The silent majority just stays silent and watches our morals and values erode to nothing. The line is so far crossed it's a dot.

The stay out of it rule doesn't even really apply this time. This kid commented to his friend, not to the teacher or disrespectfully toward another student. Sounds like this teacher is on a mission to remove the "taboo" from homosexuality one student at a time. Which would be fine if he wasn't charged with teaching OTHER PEOPLES CHILDREN German. The boy did nothing wrong.

    Agreed!

When I was in school back in the dinosaur days, lol, I had a Biology/Chemistry teacher that taught us about Evolution AND Creation, all sides of the debate on homosexuality, etc etc etc and refused to discuss HIS beliefs. Why? Because he felt as a teacher, it was his JOB to present ALL sides, right or wrong, controversial or not.

He would be barred from teaching, fired, and possibly brought up on charges today..

    I loved this part:

Krause said school leaders told Dakota that in the future he should be careful when and where he talks about his opposition to homosexuality – suggesting that he talk about such matters in the hallway instead of the classroom.

I'm betting they instructed the teacher to do the same, don't you?

I'm also betting that this teacher preaches that he "doesn't want the government in his bedroom" or "what to do with his body"--but it's funny how he can justify (while on the government payroll, mine you) the indoctrination of other peoples' children.

Ya know, there are always the versions to a story... what one side says, what the other side says, and the truth. When the media gets involved it just adds another version of the story.

Having said that, I don't know what has happened to Texas. It used to have a reputation for being badass but it seems like its turning into California.

Assuming that this boy's rights were violated, I'm sure the ACLU will take on the issue and most likely win. They had a case like this a few years ago only it was a whole group of students who were actually demonstrating in an organized fashion against homosexuality. The school district made them stop and the ACLU jumped in on behalf of the students and won on the grounds of free speech.

I agree that everyone is entitled to an opinion, but feel as though the teacher was misusing his position and authority to try and change the minds of the kids. In no way, shape, or form should a teacher take any standpoint on such a hot topic unless the class is in some way directly related to the issue. A current events class or human behavior or something to that effect.

But the child may have made someone in the classroom feel bad about his/her sexuality. My money is on the teacher...

All the years of worry about the commies externally hurting America, distracted us. The enemy was destroying America from within. The most powerful lobbists have been the socialists who run the NEA since the 1960's. They have been passing on their venom and stiffling the voice of truth so they can craft a "better society". This accomplished by reprogramming the minds of American kids to think they are doing right to resist what is truly right. Eliminate any fear of GOD or any other authority for that matter. Now we get to live in a morally and economically bankrupt world, and paying the debt of their selfserving, greedy heros. Out of 300 million people, we cannot find 437 men of integrity, honor, honesty and sound judgement to run this country. We cannot even speak the truth for the fear of "offending" some deviate, or violating the rights of some societal leech. I would say the long, carefully crafted plan that the NEA has worked so hard molding minds to accept and implement has been a success.
