I think the pressure was a great factor. The match would have slowed way down if we had to reset that much steel for every shooter and wait for all those pump guys to finish :)

    I gotcha, that makes sense

shooting stages like that with a pistol would also be awesome :D

I was thinking of attending but all the bickering back and forth changed my mind, and I agree it sucks to set up and still pay, but it is standard O.P. just about anywhere else.

Well, if you'd have shown up fifteen minutes before the shoot, shot and then left as soon as your last round was fired you woudn't have been the only one.

Joe I know you have to believe me that this will run as well as that pile of poo in the red case that you wont sell me back:yesway:[/quote/

Okay! I'll take your word for it. The Winchester is safe and sound, by the way. Maybe I'll bring it to the next match and play with you guys.

Give me time and you will say you knew me when my gun had bad days, and you will still be one dead sexy man.

    I can't argue with that!

Oh yeah, the Butcher ran the Xrail and if he shot well I'm sure cleaned all the stages... :rockwoot:

That contraption looks heavy, especially that far toward the business end of the gun! I used to think my 1100 was heavy (loaded with 8+1 and 16 shells distributed among the sidesaddle and foreend carrier for 25 rounds in and on the gun), but that thing probably makes mine seem like a feather (until it's empty).

I've got mixed emotions about the various attempts to have so many rounds loaded in a shotgun (the Xrail, Saiga-12s, etc). The technology and the effort is cool, but it seems like it goes against the essence of a shotgun to me. Part of the mystique (and fun) is that you simply don't have the same capacity as a rifle or pistol, and you make it work the way it is. So it's fine of other people do it, but it doesn't interest me.

My view of ultra-high round count shotgun stages (in 3-gun and multi-gun) is significantly dimmer. It makes it too much about reloading and not enough about shooting. That's my opinion, anyway, and it was reflected in my shotgun stage designs.

My S12 ran great, I had one stoppage which was caused by my charging handle coming in contact with the barricade.

I started the day with a too tight choke setting, I later opened it up and had better results.

I need another drum, If I have time to reload I might as well load a drum.

I ditched my redneck engineered thigh rig mag carrier, mags were still not pulling away easily.

I should really practice, I missed way too many targets, there was really no reason I shouldnt have been able to clear every stage.

I should also practice my reloads, other than these two speed matches I NEVER practice reloading my S12 under stress.

I WILL get another drum, and I WILL practice a little.

Great match that I see getting bigger and better as time goes.

Just a guess, but as you run you may be going high with that gun. You are going faster and faster, losing your cheek weld and that gun is heavy on the back half with the drum mag and the muzzle drifts up. Add in tight choke, close targets. Just a guess.

Reaquire your sight picture and cheek weld every 5 shots or so, it is afterall a 12 gauge.

I'd agree with everything, except that last part. You need some kind of sight picture for every shot, even with a shotgun. And if you can't help losing your cheek weld, then either the gun doesn't fit you or you need to adjust your stance to a more aggressive, weight-forward stance to control recoil.

Hey, I just saw Ryan on Shooting USA.

Ryan, how do you apply for that AMU Three Gun match?

You must get a "sign-up code" which are given as a 1st come 1st served basis via an online process, which took place back in May. I am almost positive that the match is already full. Luckilly, I got in again for 2010. Truthfully, it's tough because there is so many others trying to get in and only so may slots available.

Yeah, but I have shot with Craig and I have shot that gun with that drum. I know how tightly I mount a gun and I have always felt Craig may mount his gun even harder and more aggressively (keep it clean here pervs) so even with Craig's slight build I think he is good for 5 shots before he gets any drift.

But you are right and sloppy is sloppy but Lil Craig ain't sloppy with his shoulder mount.

The sights on the gun are another issue entirely

Two new drums delivered yesterday, already fitted to my gun.

Now I just need to figure out how to carry them!

cotter pins and a belt around your thigh, of course.

Or do it Robinson Carusoe style and have your man Friday carry them.:D
