I agree. There should be reparations and apologies for slavery.

Each person who who he himself owned slaves needs to apologize to those who were enslaved and freed. Doesn't have to be HIS slaves. Just any slaves freed by the outcome of the U.S. Civil war.

What? They are all dead? Each and every one on both sides? Then I guess it's pointless then.

I'm not sure but I did see a little flareup in the Sanders thread that was locked. I had considered PMing him to implore him to ignore the instigation before he gets shootered but I didn't.

Heck they can get in line. I've been waiting for the reparation check and apology for the horrible onslaught of Roman Conquest on my German ancestors for millenia. And the further damage caused by the Frankish Empire to my Dutch ancestors. And that's not even getting into all the rapes, pillagings, enslavements, and other horrors that eventually brought some portion of my family blood out of the area of Mesopotamia until they ended up here in the U.S.

The constant demands of liberation theologists, Marxists, and whatever flavor of religious "social justice" do gooders that hit the spotlight this week are all based on a false premises. The errant premise that all the rich have obtained their wealth by stealing from and oppressing the weak and poor, and that all white people are racists based on the color of their skin. Neither premise is remotely correct, and those that sell the lies have little basis in reality. It is a narrow experience that allows this error. You cannot judge the entire race by observing a single MM13 event, anymore than a single gangster disciples or a skinhead meeting. Marxists, Socialists and communists all start out by uniting the lower classes under a cause. The fact that the cause is not correct and the answer has no ability to improve conditions does not seem to matter.

Well, probably yer missing a few threads then. "Dog Whistle" is the racial industrial complex's code word for whatever they (the racial industrial complex) feel like labeling as racist code words. In a thread not so long ago an INGO member accused one of Wayne LaPierre's statements of being a dog whistle and then stomped his feet and threw a tantrum when no one else heard the whistle.

In another thread a poster used the word "reparations" and was told that's a dog whistle, presuming that it was a codeword for a racial slur. Me, being the Sith Lord of sarcasm, I could not pass up the opportunity to bring up the reference, pointing out the absurdity of that claim.

I've got nothing to apologize for, if Bernie wants to apologize to somebody, let him. There's still democratic leadership around that remembers George, and big money isn't interested in Bernie.

Yep...hence the "reparations" dog-whistle. This stuff is really embarrassing and below Bernie's level of intelligence...just a crass attempt to get some of the Barack Obama minority vote on his side. It won't work; but it will be good enough to get the loony white college kids lined up for him. They eat that st up.

Many acts have been performed throughout history that those who have come after wish had not happened. There's almost always someone who thinks it's their place to shame everyone who has come along after the fact and try to make those people feel guilty.

I have news for you: I was raised in part by a Jewish mother. I've had anti-codependent training; I am immune to guilt trips, even from professional "travel agents", and this doesn't even come close to that level of attempted guilting. You, sir, are a rank amateur.

Take your sorry excuse for an attempted guilt trip and shove it somewhere dark and smelly. Use your imagination. I'm sure you'll think of someplace appropriate.

Nothing to apologize for. Only 6% of the south owned slaves to begin with, it wasn't something the average Joe could afford anyway. Those who did own slaves are long dead.

Having lineage that stems from the NE, I've not got a damn thing to 'feel sorry' for and do not feel one ounce of whatever white guilt Sanders and other portions of the American population and leftist media are trying to create. And neither should you.

African Americans live in the greatest country on earth, and even the most disadvantaged and poorest ones have access to resources and programs beyond belief. The problems they face today have nothing to do with the small portion of white southern plantation owners that their ancestors probably didn't work for.
