It's amazing how much less political stress I suffer since I gave up on the 2 party system. I put all of my energy into a republican candidate only to watch them out democrat the democrats and what will I have to show for it? More frustration and loss of liberty. No sense in getting an ulcer by believing I can change something when I clearly cannot.

I could not agree more. Third party voters are often chastised on this forum for their meaningless, silent protest vote since thy know their candidate has no shot at winning. But the reality is, it's a lifestyle choice that reaches far further than just a vote in an election.

I'd rep ya but I gotta spread it around before I ca pn get back to you.

As long as folks contine to decide their vote based on the lesser of evils instead of their principles, November will indeed always be the lesser of two evils. It is a self fulfilling prophesy.
    .

It always has and always will be about voting for the lesser of two evils and not because we're all sheep or stupid or blind or whatever. Its because we all have different ideas. I lean libertarian but I can't agree with them as far as the anarchist wing wants to take it. Except for the social aspect, I side more with the Tea Party on just about everything else. I like the pick. I may not even hold my nose as I pull the lever for R^2.

    Reagan? Really?

I guess that you have missed the steady stream of establishment republicans being tossed out in the last 2 elections and the primaries this year. If you want to throw away your chance to halt the slide into socialism so be it.

And then Romney gets chosen to represent the party. So where does that put republicans?

He’s not perfect, for sure, and he has made more than a few votes that we at FreedomWorks have vocally opposed. But in the exclusive world of presidential politics, the ascendency of someone like Paul Ryan clearly represents one of the great measures of our success as a grassroots movement to restore liberty and responsible governance in America. - Matt Kibbe, President of FreedomWorks

Thank you for that quote, as I sit here and read the rhetoric of people who claim they want to bring America back, yet are willing to happily accept 4 more years of socialist/nazist anarchy because the other guy did not meet their specifications on the nose leaves me befuddled.

It took the socialists 50 years of brainwashing to the point in our society where goverment dependency is the norm. They now think that not removing a anti American is the same as putting a capitalist in office.

This is like learning to walk, you must crawl before you can walk, then you can run like the wind. If you try to run like the wind, without learning to walk, you will end up with your face in the dirt, and then boot on your neck.

May God help me understand those that are preparing to accept the continuation of the terrany we are going through in this country.

Ryan is another pro-war, pro-police state neocon. He and his Establishment buddies are what's wrong with the GOP and Washington D.C.

He voted for the National Defense Authorization Act, bringing the War on Terror to the homeland. Soldiers can now arrest American citizens and indefinitely detain them in military prisons.

He's bailed out companies that were "too big to fail." This must be part of what he meant when he said he rejected Ayn Rand's philosophy.

He wants the Feds to ban same-sex marriage, trouncing the will of many states and effectively nullifying many existing marriages. He wants top-down Federal control, rather than states regulating themselves.

He wants flag desecration to be a Federal crime. Don't bother telling him that there are too many laws already, he doesn't care. I'm pretty sure that bill was co-sponsored by Hillary Clinton.

He voted for Federalizing driver's licenses "to hinder terrorists." Another state power he'd like to nationalize. Ready for that National ID Card yet?

Then you look at his foreign policy and see that he's He's been a big supporter of continued warring against Iraq and Afghanistan, even resisting troop withdrawal after 10 years of pointless conflict. He also supports sanctions (acts of war) on Syria and Iran, and pledges to send our troops into any war that Israel wants us to.

This is why America loses no matter what.

4 years? This has been going on for at least 24 years. Just cuz the Bush boys had a little R doesn't mean they didn't have the same agenda. Big .gov, less civil liberties, wars, spending to oblivion, and more control over our lives. Call it socialism, crony capitalism, communism, totalitarianism, nazism, fascism, ismism but it's always about controlling "the herd".

There has been the same noisy cabal here for a long time. They appear to be fairly organized. They simply overwhelm every thread like this by repeating their same trite comments over and over until others finally give up and leave the thread.

And then Romney gets chosen to represent the party. So where does that put republicans?

It puts them on a trend transitioning to liberty and following the constitution. As I said in my first post, we are moving in the right direction. Are we there yet? Heck no but it takes time to cleanse the RINO establishment from the party.

If we can't stop the socialists this time around, we'll be doomed to losing our country forever.

We are teetering on the edge now. Four more years of this and the producers in this country will be far outnumbered by the consumers of wealth (read those on the public dole). They have figured out that they can vote themselves dollars from the treasury already. As those numbers continue to swell, we won't have any way to stop it.

I just spent some more time on the GaryJohnson website, it appears that he as raised $234,638.85 from 2779 donors.

I ask honestly, those of you who plan on voting for him, are you in the 2779? It's totally fine if you haven't, it doesn't mean a thing if you haven't. If you have however, to me, it means you are very committed to your cause and are willing to spend your own money to help him get elected.

In the current state of our country, I have a hard time getting behind a candidate who can not use his leadership to get his name out there. If he can't even market himself to the country, how is he going to be able to market his ideas. I don't think I'm going to just hand this guy the keys to the country based on the fact that he has a few good ideas. Being President of the United States takes leadership, this person represent us across the globe, and while money is not the determining factor, to me it tells a much bigger story about his ability to create a following large enough to make a difference.

Well done Mr. Johnson, you sir are a true patriot, and should be recognized as such, however, the office of the Presidency should not be your reward.

Especially when he's been given such a broad platform with the mainstream media. And the overwhelming acceptance to the debates so he may put his ideas out against Romney and Obama.
