Interesting position to take. From my studies, Evolution by Natural Selection never attempted to explain the origin of life. Much like General Relativity does not attempt to explain the origin of life. Different theories for different purposes.

There ARE several genesis hypotheses or theories, though. Lighting creating the first amino acids and simple sugars, and the good 'ole "Primordial Soup" theories are popular today. The former has actually been tested and replicated (in the lab of course).

Except that it wasn't, really. It's been a while since I studied that particular experiment, but IIRC, the lab conditions would have been impossible outside of the lab. And even then, there was no way to go from what was created in the lab, to create life from non-life.

Like Rhino, I don't find Science and Religion to be incompatible. Then again, I don't subscribe to a strict interpretation of religious texts.

I generally think in terms of science versus philosophy, in these discussions; but, same concept.

I had several good teachers in Jr. High and High School. One, in particular, made the whole "science" thing pretty easy. If your idea is testable, it is science. If not, it is religion. One cannot be substituted for the other, as they serve different purposes.

Again, philosophy, not religion; but I agree. Science and philosophy serve two entirely different, yet both entirely legitimate, purposes. Science cannot answer every question, nor should it attempt to do so. Philosophy cannot answer every question, nor should it attempt to do so.

I certainly do not find philosophy and science incompatible. Quite the contrary. Some of the greatest philosophers where scientists, and vice versa.

Science cannot answer every question, nor should it attempt to do so. Philosophy cannot answer every question, nor should it attempt to do so.
Unfortunately, many "religions" attempts to use the same answer for every question.

I honestly can't wait until we find life on another planet/moon/world. That should throw a wrench into the works.

Back on THIS topic, I can't wait until we find evidence of changing climates on other planets, that have NO life. I'm sure us humans will still get blamed somehow.

Not at all incompatible; rather, they attempt to answer different questions. Crudely: science deals with "what" and "how", while philosophy deals with "why" and "how does that apply".

Unfortunately, many "religions" attempts to use the same answer for every question.

Personally, I believe in a young earth, created in six literal days. But I recognize that such belief is merely a belief, and such belief has almost zero impact on any doctrinal question. My faith would not be impacted in any way whatsoever if that belief were untrue. Is the Bible literal on those points? Is it metaphorical? Ultimately, it doesn't matter with respect to matters of doctrine.

I honestly can't wait until we find life on another planet/moon/world. That should throw a wrench into the works.

Other sentient life? Sure. That would open up all sorts of philosophical questions.

I'm sure our SUVs are causing this:

    Always follow the money.

What do you do when the money trail disappears behind a non-profit?
Say Marc Morano's website Climate depot website being funded by CFACT, an organization that doesn't have to disclose it's donors?
It's donors are probably just average concerned citizens though right? Probably not big oil or Koch industries.

    .
I'm sure big oil and the Koch brothers buy influence and benefits in dc just like anybody else. The essence of my little four word statement is that many laws and regulations are bought and paid for, if you want to find out why, follow the money to see who is making big money from the deal. The croupiers in all this are big law/lobby firms, you could fill a black hole with all the stuff that leads there and disappears.

Would be hard to say for aliens to accept Jesus as their lord and savior and get to heaven wouldn't it?

Though I thought a while back the Pope or the Vatican came out and said discovering extraterrestrial life wasn't incompatible with Catholic teachings.

I suppose everyone was glued to their chairs during the Dem Debate, but Hillary claims to have “most comprehensive plan to combat climate change.”

Sanders turns up attacks on Clinton at feisty debate, Dem front-runner fights back | Fox News

Not that it's any surprise, but get ready for a whole new wave of Climate Change (human induced of course) legislation and perhaps EO's should the Repubs fail to put forth anyone who can beat her. She also slammed Bernie the Socialist for his soft stance on gun control - the bad black gun ban will be back...you know...the failed one her husband championed?...

There was a Democratic Debate? Huh. Missed it.
